Took family to one of my favourite beaches as a child. It's a clean and sandy beach. The kids loved the sand. Good facilities close by and they did have a splash. Nice place to relax.

Even though weather was cold was lovely taking the kids out for a walk on the beach on a Sunday afternoon.. Kids had fun looking for shells and found it funny when they saw a jellyfish .. Lovely stroll and beach was quite clean and tidy

Beautiful beach but also there is too much rubbish on the sand which is not cleaned up on a regular basis.

Although a nice place for a stroll or to walk your dog, this place is bland with nothing to offer other than the nice beach and views. There are no shops or cafes to visit and other than mobile homes the place is quite dull.

I've been coming to Cranfield since I was a child. It is an honest,no frills breach where families, couples and retirees share the simple splendour of a well maintained beach. There can be jellyfish and crabs so don't expect nature to exit just for you. You can talk a long walk on the beach or combine it with a loop walk along the windy county lanes that link to the beach. The beautiful scenery was recently captured when the TV series, 'The Fall' filmed here. They pretended it was Scotland but it was actually Cranfield. There are few places families can come and feel safe, this is one such unspoilt place where multiple caravans, chip vans and ice cream vans take you back to a bygone period. Simple, authentic and should be visited by all from Northern Ireland and visitors too. A previous reviewer complained that there are no public facilities in winter. That is true, the season runs from March to September but then Irish winters can be bleak so I don't imagine too many would want to visit off season and if you do,wrap up warm!

Brilliant, East Coast Adventure took us out paddle boarding. They only usually run here during July & August but as they had a large group of Spanish in they said we could join in

A proper old fashioned beach where families are welcome- there are life guards and toilets etc. The beach is shallow and safe- with adult supervision .Dogs are forbidden from part of the beach during the summer season which keeps it clean. There is usually an ice cream van selling its wares- a truly magical experience.

Good beach but council worker wanted to get home so car park closes on the dot . Very crowded at times and a bit smelly

My entire family has been going to this beach for forty years. The vista is so perfect in a lovely little bay with the Haulbowline Lighthouse dead centre. I can remember when I first came, I thought all my Christmases had arrived at once. It's more organised now and with more nearby facilities but still pretty unspoiled.

Travel here quite a lot, amazing beach. Very tidy and always buzzing with people. Lovely little benches for picnics and there is always a chip van or ice cream van about.

a fabulous beach for walking, swimming, and sun bathing. with the added bonus of The Mountains of Mourne as s stunning backdrop.

Cranfield beach is a suitable location to walk your dogs in the autumn and winter when there are less people around. However it is worth noting that the toilets are closed at all times during these seasons. They are also closed in summer evenings. This is disappointing to say the least.Newry and Mourne district council would need to update their notice board and information on the web to alert potential users and perhaps think about modernising the access system. We don't mind paying, we just need to use the toilet after a long walk !!!!

A great beach with great atmosphere especially in summer when you're lucky enough to get some. Good facilities available in holiday parks etc. Ice cream vans line here when there is any hint of sunshine or warmth. In summer this beach gets very busy if it any way warm, so arrive early if you want a good spot on a nice day!Beach is really clean and in summer there is often people doing water sports. Only 35 minutes away from Newry if you fancy an array of high street stores and more, and even less to Newcastle where there is a lovely promenade, great for families!

When the tide is out this is great beach for long walk with great views. Walk right round the corner to Greencastle.
