Thank you for your kind review. There are lots of lovely walks around Brodie. If you're still in the area do have a walk through the shrubbery garden where there is a good display of the little wild daffodils or Lent Lilies, always the first to flower.

So glad to hear your party had a wonderful time at the Laird's Wing. It's a great location for a family get together or special occasion with many of the contents original to the castle, giving a true sense of 'living like a laird'. Property Manager

Thank you for your kind review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit. Brodie does look wonderful in the spring when the daffodils are in bloom. There will be tours of the gardens with the gardener and her team in mid April when you can learn the history of the daffodil breeding and see many different varieties. If you are in our area then we look forward to welcoming you back.Property managerBrodie Castle

Glad to hear you enjoyed your evening at Brodie. It's a great place for an authentic Scottish dinner, complete with whisky tasting, tour and bagpipes. I'm sure your group had a wonderful time.Property Manager

We are very disappointed to hear of your experience as we do strive to deliver a good customer experience at Brodie Castle. There is a wheelchair climber that can give access to the first floor. This requires advance booking. There is a single step down to the entrance, then a single step to the library and to the guardchamber, also a single step up to the tearoom. These areas can all be accessed with the ramp. We have many disabled visitors who enjoy what Brodie has to offer. We hope you will be able to return and will be delighted to help you enjoy your visit.Best regardsProperty manager

Great to hear you enjoyed your tour. One misapprehension however, there is still a Brodie of Brodie (the 27th clan chief) but not in residence at the castle. You can however enjoy a holiday in the apartments where the late Ninian Brodie lived until 2003. Fine art, antique furniture and centuries of history make this huge apartment a splendid place to celebrate family occasions or spoil your visiting guests.Property Manager

Delighted you enjoyed your tour with one of our wonderful guides. We were fortunate to have a very busy October and try to respond with extra tours whenever possible. We would love to see you again in April, perhaps during our daffodil weekend when the gardens team will be leading tours of the garden. Ian Brodie was famed as a successful daffodil breeder, you can still see many of the daffodils he bred here,Property Manager

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are as you say a National Trust for Scotland property, admission presently £10.50 for an adult and free to members. We feel our tour is value for money though we are always delighted when our visitors decide to support our heritage by joining as members. Should you join then your membership will give you free entry and free parking, not only here in Scotland but also to other National Trust properties, UK and world wide. Families are welcome, both in the grounds with the super new adventure playground and in the castle. Whenever staffing allows we add extra tours for families with children. We will however rethink the Lego men for future seasons. Time to put the thinking caps on!Property Manager

Sorry to hear of your disappointment. Tours are frequently 30 minutes apart, necessary to allow tours to clear rooms before the next visitors, especially on the upper floors where space is limited. However you should have been advised of your options before the tour. The guardchamber can be visited without a guide, also the tearoom, Victorian kitchen, scullery and shop - all in the castle. The dairy exhibition is just beyond the shop or you can visit the gardens and grounds outdoors. Our tours are normally full of interesting information for young and old alike. It seems on this occasion the guide may have been influenced by keeping the attention of the children. We will address this issue in our forthcoming staff training. We welcome families and have an adventure playground, opened in 2012, which caters especially for them. Many parents choose to tour the castle separately while the children enjoy their own activities, if their timetable permits. We would love to see you return to Brodie and feel sure you will have a much better experience of our lovely castle on your next visit.Property Manager

Thank you for your kind comments. There is a lot to see at Brodie, many visitors return to tour the castle again to appreciate it all. Outdoors too has lots to offer with the adventure playground, shrubbery, walled garden, woodland walks, the pond walk and the Pictish carved stone by the entrance drive - something for everyone.Property Manager

Sorry to hear of your disappointing visit. Opening times are clearly displayed on the pay machine itself, also in our booklets and on the web page. We close two days a week in the shoulder months on the days for which we have always had less demand. Prebooked tours are sometimes taken on these days, frequently from companies which have supported us throughout the season. The grounds remain open to the public; whenever staffing allows the shop is also open where you can buy drinks and snacks to enjoy at the outdoor tables opposite the adventure playground.Property Manager

The Laird's Wing/Apartment in Brodie Castle is something else!! It is like living in an environment which we normal people can only experience in our dreams, except it was not a dream. The National Trust for Scotland and in particular their staff at Brodie do everything to make this dream come true. The rooms are beautifully furnished in character with the house and the facilities are ideal for a large family (sleeps up to 14 in 7 bedrooms!) The touches are varied and range from the soldier wallpaper in one of the 5 bathrooms which tickled our grandsons to the cocktail kitchen which took the fancy of the older gentlemen. The extensive grounds and excellent Adventure Playground are great for outdoor activities and there are lots of things to do around Forres and in Inverness and do not forget Findhorn which has a brilliant beach and dunes. Our joint family holiday had the advantage of having good weather but even in less desirable conditions there are lots of different games available in the house and of course there is the long staircase which can be run up and down endlessly by little boys and a gong in the dining room which doubles as a warning about mealtimes and an attraction for the young ones.

The castle itself can only be visited by tour - but this is the best choice anyway! Leslie our guide was fantastic: You will love it when she refers to some of the ladies who lived there as "Elisabeth #1 - CLOCK" and "Elisabeth #2 - NO CLOCK" throughout the 1-hour tour ;-)Also, the tearoom is worth a visit - super friendly staff and lovely food!

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, and were rather surprised that we had to take a guided tour. The tour group was too large for comfort, and for the size of the property. The guide was very knowledgeable, but gave us too much information. Why can't guides simply point out the highlights in a room, and let the participants in the tour ask questions about specific issues if they feel there is a need? We had an excellent example of this at Glamis Castle - NTS please take note, and learn from your competitors. It was an interesting house, but the over enthusiastic tour guide did wear us out, and leave us gasping for air. Perhaps more highlighting of the Rodney Stone near the entrance drive would also be a good thing.
