I think it's fair to say that any true Leicesterfarian has been here whether it's been a school trip or something to do with the kids during the school holidays... I've been there countless times and will definitely be going again... Not often the council gets it right but they've done good here...

The museum is really well organised and has something for everyone in different age groups to keep you occupied and interested, the cafe is lovely and staff are all really helpful !

I've been going to the New walk for over 30 years with my three children and now my grandchildren and I still enjoy it every time, so do the kids. When ever guest come to see me in leicester, we end up there. As I know it's the one place where you can spend a couple of stress free educational hours. They always have a new educational, fun exhibition, for kids upstairs that changes At least twice a year. There's a lovely reasonable price coffee shop in there if you fancy stopping for a break. But it's the art I love and the galley will not leave you disappointed.

The museum has had a lot of time and money put in to it. It fills a good few hours and is good for everyone of all ages and interests. Well worth checking out.

Good for kids. Has quite a lot of variety (Egypt, german expressionist art, dinosaurs, animals , rocks and minerals) but could do with a bit more variety in exhibitions. The art gallery is fantastic and the shop is quite good. In a nice area.

Great and easy to navigate museum for small tour groups, school aged children and to tease the traveler who intends to go to the big natural history museums in London or abroad. Having visited with a lifelong Leicester native, I was told it was now on the shabby side and that while the locations of the exhibits have changed, they were similar. Authenticity abounds, however.

Parking was a bit of a problem here as it was a city location however once in some very interesting exhibits from around the county the Hallaton horde purporting to be one of the Oldest Roman coin found in Britain is on display The silver dated to 211 BC, was among a horde of more than 5,000 Iron Age and Roman coins found in a field near Hallaton eight years ago. There is a cafeteria with toilet facilities all accessible

I loved visiting this museum a few months back. It was free and very insightful, a lovely place to take children.

I visited this museum this past December. For me it was not hard to find it. In a very sleepy city, this place is one of the main attractions. The museum collection is very eclectic, their best items are some pottery made by Picasso. The best moment was a performance made by a percussionist of hindu music. The activity was free and it was organized in one of the rooms of the museum. I would suggest better organization, maybe not trying to exhibit all the pieces simultaneously, so you are not watching a bunch of "stuff".

The signs for this museum were appalling, they never actually took you right to the museum, just disappeared and left you lost and increasingly frustrated. I finally found myself up yet another dead end street, I drove to the end to turn around and a small, dirty sign hidden on a gate told me I had in fact arrived. The car park has parking spaces for only the smallest cars and the few disabled spaces were full. The museum itself is small, clean, hands on and kiddy friendly. It filled an afternoon and was interesting for grown ups and children. The cafe is a Costa which is fine by me, the cake and coffee I had was delicious. My mum couldn't find a change area for the toddler so had to do his nappy on the toilet floor. Obviously not ideal. There is a disabled loo so it might have been in there but you needed to track down a key for access. Therefore disabled people, have to make more effort than most just to use the toilet and the lift was broken. Not sure I'd go again, finding it was just far, far more difficult than it needed to be, in fact all of Leicester seemed hard to get around. It seems bonkers but I live in Leicestershire and this was my first visit to the city, possibly the last. Birmingham is just so much easier.

Went here with my little toddler and the family. My little toddler really enjoyed ancient Egypt, dinosaurs (especially this one) and he animals and plants too.The reason I'm giving it a 4 and not a 5 as this would make a great little place for families but throwing in an art gallery into one of the rooms which would only be suitable for adults just kinda spoils its appeal for children and in my opinion it would be better to stick with the one target audience

I went to the New Walk Museum and Gallery to see the German Expressionism Exhibition and the Picasso ceramics, overall I thought it was excellent. The German Expressionism art was amazing, Franz Marc, Bechmann, etc, an incredible selection. The Picasso ceramics were excellent, you very rarely get so many of Picasso's ceramics in one place, such an excellent selection.I would definitely recommend it.
