We have been walking in Burghley Park for over 20 years now and it really is a beautiful, undulating landscape right on our doorstep. Hundreds of deer roam various parts of the park, the sculpture garden and lake are really worth visiting, and the house tour is exceptional. The original kitchen is simply vast ! We are very, very lucky to have this in Stamford.

What a great place and well worth a visit. A must if you are up this way. Food great. FREE parking. You can just drive in, park and walk around the grounds, perfect.

Steeped in Ancient history of the local area, and worth the tour for the remaining paintings and architectural features still available to see.

Wonderful grounds and breathtaking contents and paintings inside the house. There is a good selection of food to eat in the orangery but expensive. A tranquil place to have a picnic in the summer as the grounds are free to visit.

Our first visit to this amazing place and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The grounds are magnificent and kept us busy exploring and enjoying all the twists and turns. The artwork/sculptures throughout the grounds are also first class. We enjoyed coffee and a cake from the coffee shop in the grounds. There is a plant shop and gift shop close to the coffee shop. We visited in Sept so maybe towards the end of the season and little to choose from the garden centre although I was happy to find an agapanthus for my collection. The gift shop was well stocked and a pleasure to browse, lots of choice. Burghley House itself is a wonderful building and so decorative inside, with amazing murials and huge paintings, beautiful furniture, carpets etc and was a very enjoyable visit. We enjoyed it and Stamford so much that we are planning to visit at least once a year in the future.

Fascinating history of the house and family. Worth a few hours here and in the gardens. Also big craft fair on when we visited.

The physical structure of Burghley House is most impressive. The home is in amazing condition and contains some wonderful furnishings and memorabilia. The location is perfect, as it sits close to the downtown of Stamford, which is always great for a visit. Well worth seeing.

The main house was closed given the time of year but we had a really lovely afternoon. The deer park is a great spot and the food in the orangey restaurant was fantastic, not too pricey given it's location. Will be back when the house is open.

I have to admit my family and I are big fans of Burghley we often go there in the summer for their outdoor Water gardens which are great for families, and on leave for breakfast in the Orangery. We also go to the movie nights which are superb ! Top Gun being last years and the year before being Bond Night !!! . I could sit on here quite a while on each of these elements that Burghley host but will simply say Burghley do things well very Well and the best thing is they dont charge the earth !Now our main reason for going to Burghley is for the 4 Day Horse event which we love, and there is so much to do be careful mind you of over priced Food venders good value for money is Grassmere and the quality is very very good. Now for the real reason for this entry Halloween 2014 yes I know this is a tad late but hey ive been busy bonfire night crimble new year blah blah ….Any way we arrive at the venue and our welcomed into the main foyer area we are then joined by other visitors coming to the spooky tours. On the appointed hour and prompt we are ushered through to a darkened area of the House with only candle light to light our way. Boom straight away we get the very well done ghoulish looking made over actors who take us on our tour in and around the House and some of its court yards.I will not ruin what was such a well planned out haunted tour of the B/H other than to say I have been to the Dungeons Tours both in London and York and they were good bit nothing beats actors whose timing was brilliant, there were Screams a many and a few people laughing at others exspense as well as other who were litterally jumping out of their skins in fright ,were all on order for the night. Well timed thoroughly enjoyed and will be returning next /this year :D thanks B/H and to the cast of haunted tours B/H…Dont believe me then try it this year…..

The outside is just stuinning, almost fairy-story like. The tour round the house is very interesting, especially the link to the Olympics. Lots of interesting rooms and lovely views.
