I visited Preston Park for the first time today and was most impressed with what I found. First of all the park; it is a large and well kept area with an excellent and imaginative playground and skatepark. There is also a butterfly house (which I didn't visit) and a cafe. A major feature of the park is that it provides lots of free space for walking, playing or simply relaxing and the fact that it borders the river and a nature reserve is an added bonus. My main reason for visiting was to see the museum and I must say that I was very impressed. The staff were most welcoming and, as has already been said, the admission prices are fantastic value. The museum exhibits were very well presented and covered quite a range of topics. What I particularly like here is that they concentrate quite heavily on ordinary domestic exhibits, and as many of them are from recently modern times (40s, 50s and 60s) they are instantly recognisable and conjure up wonderful memories of childhood. The highlight of the museum has to be the splendid reconstruction of an old street, with a good variety of shops to look at. Some doors were closed, e.g. the police station, so I guess that those are projects in hand for future development. One place that I was pleased to find open was the tea room, and the cup of tea and excellent cheese scone really hit the spot after an excellent visit. They were also very good value.I really enjoyed my visit here and will certainly come back.Highly recommended.

Ventured into the museum. Tickets are valid for 1 year. The street at the end of it is good. A few corners need sprucing up but it is interesting. Coffee shop is very reasonably priced. The museum has quite a selection of items. For the size and price it is decent value.

Plenty for kids of all ages and the cost of the family ticket goes you entry for a full year - terrific value - plenty to see and do.

Picked a fine day to go which was a positive. The museum has improved no end since the last time we went. It's like going back to your youth with the memorabilia and also the equipment my grandparents used for washing machines, poss tubs and mangles!Worth a visit with the grandchildren then they can play outside on the park itself. The ticket we bought for a fiver lasts twelve months so we will go back again in the summer. Let's hope butterfly world will be pen at the same time.

A very good day out been there a few times a good place for kids to play on swings and a nice walk down to river tees there was talk about a river taxi from the tees barrage and stockton do not know if it came about.pity it does not have animals like it used to. A nice old world street old shops from stockton Taken thereand rebuilt if you are lucky you can see the blacksmith working and also the carpenter who makes rocking horses the museum is good to walk round. I did not see a lift the museum it self could be a problem for wheel chair users .they should be all right in the street area the park it self is o/ for disabled wheel chair users. don

Fab place I recently had my rocking horse restored from the toy maker who has a shop in the museum courtyard it's great to take kids and dogs for walks all year round to walk along the river and have a coffee in the cafe highly recommended

great place to take my dog, loves the long walks that the park has to offer. also love to take my grandson loves the swings and feeding the ducks

A lovely place for a walk, spoiled today by minimal car parking, not enough for all wanting to use it, but perhaps they are improving the overflow car park for regular use? and the cafe closed at 3.30pm! Why do British tourist attractions close so early? School may close at 3pm, but the holiday lasts till bedtime! Lovely opportunities for photography today, especially by the river. Grounds and car park free. Small charge if you want to visit museum.

Excellent Victoriana museum. Kids love the dressing up and Victorian games in a reproduction street. The adventure playground has excellent skateboard park and rope climbing area.Plenty of space to run around in and Teesside Princess calls at the jetty twice a day for trips up/down river to Yarm/Stockton-on-Tees

Great place to spend a few hours. Museum brings back some memories with interesting displays. There is something for everyone outside in the grounds whether walking the dog or letting the children play football or use the play area. Plenty of space for a Picnic although there is a café. There is also interaction with staff dressed in period costume.
