Box Hill is a fairly big hill famous for its hiking trails and its challenging ascent for cyclists. Amazing views on a clear day and gorgeous countryside combined with a 45 minute train ride from central London make this a popular place for a days walking.

I live at the foot of this beautiful area and walk my dogs on the hill all the time. The views are stunning, well worth the walk up the hill. it's a great place to take the family, with lots of outdoor activities, walking cycling and the adventure walk in the woods toward the Foly overlooking Juniper Hall. There is an excellent well run cafe & kiosk at the top of the hill where you can buy good value for money food & drinks.

I grew up in Dorking and Box Hill is the iconic natural feature that rules the hills around this beautiful town. Very popular amongst cyclists and walkers, the views are beautiful.

I tend to cycle to Box Hill with friends, cycle groups and pop into the national trust cafe at the top for a slice of cake and a latte. They do a card reward scheme which is worth asking for. The cakes are all hand made and taste great, the staff are very friendly. There is a view point at the top of the hill by the cafe. The picture of me is just by there. On weekends there are lots of cyclists, ramblers, dog walkers, families. There are a few car parks which display pay for parking. At the bottom of the hill there is another cafe which is used by motor cyclists and car owners, sometimes interesting classic cars and bikes or custom vehicles are seen there on most days. I think that there is a lovely vibe to Box Hill either at the top or the bottom or walking around the area. As it is national trust land it is there to be used by all of us. To take in the fresh air, some times cold but a great place to be in the out doors. If you have never been to Box Hill try it out

.... Take something to eat and drink with you, the NT cafe needs some reorganising. It was 5C when we arrived at the cafe. Just two people in front and no one behind. It took ages to get served. Cakes looked nice but a sandwich was wanted. 1.20pm out of bread. So we chose hot soup and a sausage roll! Why the long wait? Three pleasant women behind the counter so it should have taken no time at all to get served. Side door open continuously to restock clean dishes, when it was really cold. Some girls not happy as there was no bread for sandwiches and soup almost gone they asked if they could go to the outside NT kiosk for a sandwich and bring it in to eat in the warm. No! Beautiful walking area that attracts so many people ideal to make a lot of money out of catering but sorry the Cafe not up to the usual standard of the NT.

From the top you get stunning southward views over the countryside. There are some simple strolls and tougher walks marked out, and if you feel like it you can walk up there. There is plenty of parking (free for National Trust members, pay+display for everyone else), toilets and a shop up there. It's a great day out and the surrounding villages contain many lovely pubs for afterwards.

Once you've navigated the windy road up to Box Hill there is ample car parking space and a National Trust shop and toilets. Pathways are clearly marked for walkers and the view over the surrounding area is fantastic. Very muddy in winter as to be expected

Came here on a cold winters day to try out our newly acquired GPS. Though we used it we really didn't need to the routes were brilliantly marked free leaflets with maps of walks were even provided. Will definitely visit again in the summer

Box hill is one of most impressive hills in southern england and one of the accessible is can either be visited for walker from West Humble station up a rather steep path, or car drivers can drive up it to the car park at the top. Its also part of 100 or so miles North Downs Way a long distance footpath which is well worth exploring. I have visited the hill on a number of occations, most recently on christmas day. It boasts impressive views of Dorking and Surrey as well as cafe a visiter centre and a shop and actually really rather close to London so for most people pretty easy to get to. One can take a number of different walk of different challange levels starting at Boxhill. One slight problem I might mention is it can get rather busy at weekends during the summer .

Came up to show our visiting friends and their children the wonders of Box Hill. A great place for walking, cycling, riding or just to get a nice cup of hot chocolate (amongst other things).

I remember my Mum and Dad bring my Brother and I to Boxhill many years ago and I loved it there then. We used to go by car then. We visited Box Hill not long ago and when we arrived at Boxhill Station you think you are out in the country. A few yards down the road from the station you come across a Pub and a bit further on if you go to the left it brings you to a Bikers Café where all the motor cyclists go. You don't have to be a cyclist to go there and have something to eat. There are toilets there as well. There is a path way here where you can climb up to the top of Box Hill from there. We have done it a couple of times and it is well worth the climb just to see the view from the top. If you do climb to the top, take your time as it is very steep. I had to keep stopping as it made me out of breath. There is a National Trust shop there when you reach the top as well as toilets. The walk down is much easier but be careful as it is quite steep. To the right when you come out of the station there are stepping stones which go across the River Mole. This is a lovely spot and well worth seeing..

Plenty of car parking and for the more energetic a chance to walk up steep slopes to the top. Good restaurant and facilities are waiting when you get there and there is also an information centre.
