When I have previously been to the Playhouse I have always had a seat in the stalls. However for the last night of the pantomime this year I booked seats in the front row of the circle. I assumed these would be good seats with a reasonable amount of space. Unfortunately this was not the case. The seats are very very close to the barrier and there is almost no leg room at all, I'm only 5'2", and felt very cramped. I'm also quite claustrophobic so it was impossible for me to sit there. Fortunately, the staff were absolutely brilliant when I explained the situation and luckily were able to move us to different seats (all seats are the same price for that performance). To the lovely usher I spoke to, thank you very much for your help and understanding. Absolutely loved the panto and will be back next year but will be more careful which seats I choose.

Recently visited The Nottingham Playhouse as a last minute trip to the Panto. In previous years we have gone to the Theatre Royal but this time we wanted to see Sleeping Beauty, which was on at the Playhouse. I booked online no problem on the Sunday and tickets would be held at the box office for the Saturday performance. Parking can be a bit tight in the surrounding area but pay and display (£1 per 30 mins max 3 hrs) only applies till 8pm so no need to worry. Collected tickets no fuss, no need to show any confirmation emails or receipts, found seats and had a great night. Performance was great fun, lots of laughs, banter and local humour incorporated. 3 hours passed in no time and it was a great family night out. I know some of the cast are regulars in the pantos at the Playhouse as have seen them before but this guarantees a good show( and at a cheaper price than at the Theatre Royal who rely on 'slebs' staring in their show). Cast the adjoining bar was the only place to get a cold drink other than water on sale at the refreshments stands , and was a bit costly at £7.50 for 3 standard bottles of pop but its a night at the Theatre Darhhhhling. A great night will be going again.

Ive been going to the Playhouse since I was a child we always go to the Panto which is always amazing and they do so many things for children i can now take my son great location great shows only thing that my dad struggles with is that the seat backs are not very high and he find it difficult sitting with out support for a while but if you go more towards the stage the seat backs are higher so not a problem its just higher up in the stalls that we tend not to pick

The Playhouse has been spearheading vital theatre for years, and luckily for us, there's a wonderful bar area that makes you want to sit around for a long time. It's a lovely place to go for coffee off-hours and during the warm weather, it's heavenly sitting outside with the cathedral across the street and the wonderful Sky Mirror sculpture by Anish Kapoor. Great staff.

Thank you for your review. At CAST we offer a wide range of locally brewed real ales. In fact we received our LocALE accreditation last year. We also offer premium lagers on draught and by bottle including Peroni, Kozel, Estrella and one sourced from Burton, Freedom Organic. We have an extensive wine list and offer a number of interesting twists on classic cocktails, as well as the classics themselves. All our food is prepared and cooked from fresh in house by our talented team, and we are proud to use local suppliers for our produce. Although we are a Grade 2* listed building we have worked hard to improve the venue and offer a comfortable environment for our guests. We have also invested in new outdoor furniture for our expansive terrace. It is unfortunate that you did not enjoy your wine. We would have liked to have the opportunity to do something for you at the time, as it seems eleven months since you visited us. We're happy to discuss this further should you wish. Please feel free to contact Tim Wheelhouse, our CAST Manager at timw@castnottingham.co.uk kind regardsRichard SurgayCustomer Relations ManagerNottingham Playhouse

We visited here not in the main auditorium but another studio. The bar here was very good with a great selection of wines and even featured real ale. Good atmosphere before and after the show with friendly eager staff. There appeared to be an area for meals but we had already eaten.Would definitely visit this place if in the area again.Nice outdoor area too.

Great venue, I have been here many times, one of Nottingham's gems. The backstage tour on open day is great. Can't wait to return for pantomime!

One of the best kept secrets is Nottingham Playhouses Backstage Pass, which for £35 for 2 people is excellent value. It provides you with 2 free tickets for a preview show of your choice , half price tickets and other discounts, 2 free programmes and most importantly discounts on your drinks in Cast bar. The programme is very varied with both contemporary and more traditional plays with the excellent Traditional panto , which for many a year has played tribute to Kenneth Alan Taylor's pantomime dame. I'm sure the next generation of Panto stars will follow on in his footsteps. A very reasonable night out, and easy to find street parking in the area.

Caitlin Moran was great! Very funny indeed! Think it was a sell out so quite slow to get served, ran out of house wine and no where to sit. Heard the food is good but perhaps go when its a bit quieter.

We were recommended by a friend to see the Kit Runner at the Nottingham Playhouse - the play was memorising and very true to the actual book, so well depicted, it held our attention all through the play and was also easy to follow (even if you haven't read the book) - the actors got a standing ovation which they certainly deserved! One to see if you get chance!
