The church and tower are obviously awesome, but if you visit on November 11 of each year, you ll have an experience of a lifetime at the square near this place! Everyone will be disguised and dancing, an incredible festive mood will be ongoing! Do not miss it on this date!

Nice, attractive to the eyes, red tower that deceives you from the outside that it has richer history that the surrounding churches. The church from inside doesn't have much unless if you go up the tower and enjoy the view, however, from outside its definitely an eye catching.

The St. John's characteristic red tower is useful for orientation when walking the city, as it is placed in the center of town. The tower of this church is also climbable during the times the church is opened for visitors. This makes it the highest viewable point in the city. The interior of this protestant church is very sober in contrast with the Catholic Saint Servatius basilica which is right next door. It might not look very impressive to some, but history wise - with the schism between catholics and protestants - its very intriguing to see these two building next to each other.

The distinct red towering spire of this Gothic Protestant Church guides you into the Vrijhoh district of Maastrict. Pick up an informative brochure as you do a self-guided free tour of this church. They have the brochures in English and are quite informative.

With it's red steeple this church will immediately catch your eye! There is nothing spectacular about the inside. However it is possible for the mere sum of 2€50 to climb to the top and admire the view of Maastricht from the red steeple! You have to go inside the church and there is a stand selling different items. It is here that you can buy your ticket. It won't take you very long but it's a nice view from up there! There isn't a lot of room up top and you may have to squeeze past people in the stairwell but it's what makes it fun. Everything is well secured. There are also lots of information boards at the top which clearly indicate all the important buildings you can see and briefly explain what they are. I enjoyed it!

Why this church seems odd only to me? The weird red tower had made such a repulsive impression that I even had nightmares after visiting! It strongly stands out against the surrounding landscape and looks absurdly because of its colour. And except for the strange tower the church has nothing special, just a simple old church as in other medieval cities. There are many beautiful places in Maastricht so its better to ignore this one.

While the outside, with the red tower looks pretty interesting and nice, the inside is extremely balnd and has nothing to offer (with maybe the exception of the available toilets. No nice paintings, statues or ornaments, the inside has been pretty much converted into a concert hall.If you are looking for an entrance, on the southside. Actually we were in adn out in under 20 seconds.
