A great place to walk, shop, eat, drink a coffee or whatever you want, in yet another beautiful city in Holland!

By any standard, Delft is a perfect Dutch city. The Markt is the perfect quaint romantic square for leisurely strolling, sampling foods while listening to the sounds of the city. So perfectly warm and accommodating, the merchants are helpful and speak English. Menus are in Dutch, but photos are in many menus to help those of us challenged with the language. The historic Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) and the Stadhuis (City Hall) form boundaries to the square and history is just a turn and photo away. Many side streets have vendors, shops and more restaurants. Don't miss the canal as you walk toward Oude Kerk (Old Church) - just look up and you see the Oude Kerk tower to guide your tour through the small city centre and side streets. (Oude Kerk, Old Church, actually leans a bit from settling - look up this fact and Oude Kerk is truly a fascinating historical treat!) The City of Delft was the highlight of our visit. The square offers friendly locals, great food and historical sites in a quaint unassuming Markt square. Very romantic!

Delft must be a lovely city to visit, however, yesterday was not a day for a fieldtrip clearly. The huge open space made wind even stronger while the tower was still under construction. A large selection of brasseries and cafes is available.

Absolutely spectacular to look at the church and city hall from the square. It is the highlight of Delft.

The Markt is the center of the town with many options of little restaurants, porcelain shops, information center and the best start point of any tour. The main church is also there. So you are steps away of all nice sights. We had lunch at one of the restaurants and it was a good choice. There is a nice public park just around the corner, so also a good option to start your trip if you came by car.

Nice place to shoot some photos! Several terraces, and tourist shops. Don't forget to walk around the small streets on the right side (if your back is to the church)!

During my stay in Deft I visited several food stalls, cheeses, vegies, fruit, fish and meat. Most venders speak perfect English and are most helpful, if they don't help is near at hand byone of the customers. So my questions never went unanswered.

Marktplatz is one of the catchy and touristic side of lovely city Delft. As a tourist you can find everything you want: sightseeing and souvenirs.

A great square to see, you have the Renaissance style City Hall, on the other side facing the City Hall is the Gotic styltook enough time for a cappuccino as we wanted to see everything in a short time

This was a very pleasant journey to Delft and sitting there in the historic ambiance all around was so relaxing.. With or without children always a place to be.

This might sound strange but I liked it much more than Plein in Den Haag. This place, just like whole Delft has "that little something", I admit I loved it. Plenty of space dominated by the tower of Nieuwe Church on one and Stadhuis on the other side. Wander around, grab a bagel, see the shops and galleries, take a break for a coffee and a scope of icecream, go on, enjoy , especially if you're lucky to have sun.

This square was so beautiful. The buildings that surround it are really gorgeous- especially the church which rings its bells every hour. We visited on a lovely warm October day and sat and had a pancake (goats cheese with honey and walnuts!) while taking in the scenery- BLISS. There are also many lovely delft ceramics shops dotted around as well as a few obligatory cheese shops. Lovely Square for taking in the atmosphere and history of Delft.

Great fun for the little time that we spent at the square. Pretty churches all around and plenty of places to work around and look. As the weather was sunny and nice late afternoon, people were sitting around and watching the world goes by. Definitely find some time to spend and sit and people-watch.

The new Kirk (Church) at the end of the square is a must to visit. In the church is the tomb of William of Orange. It is a very tranquil spot to just sit and pray or to walk around and take in the history.
