You have to see it during Christmas time with all the light and carol singers and the beautiful tree in font f the city hall

With great expectations we went in the famous Gouda City Hall, but we came out disappointed. One can do the building in less then half an hour and one will have forgotten what has been seen in no time. No the church (St. Johns) or the Cheese market are better/more fun

The city hall has a lot of history, it looks very nice. Ideal for taking pictures. Next to the building you can find the open market (thursday and saturdays).

We had a conference at this venue and it was an experience, the meals and the pub on the ground floor was amazing.

Gouda is a beautiful township with lots to see and the area around the main square is wonderful! The city hall itself is an architectual delight and from my husbands experience quite interesting to see on the inside. I was disappointed though by the lady that was taking care of admissions. My husband paid the 5 euro to go in whilst I stayed outside with our little one and waited. I needed to use the bathroom and instead of being helpful with the fact that I had a small child and my husband was inside, she directed me to go to one of the restaurants on the other side of the square where you are required to pay. No consideration that I may have been pregnant or that I had a small child and was on my own. A poor representative for the beautiful township.

Visited on a lovely sunny Sunday. Lovely impressive architecture. Had lunch in one of the many cafes fronting the square enjoying the view.

Classic Gothic in nature, the jewel of the market square. The exterior is probably the best part of the building, although inside there are historical exhibits of a local nature. The Stadhuis is situated as the centre piece of the market square with the Waag (Weigh Scale House) behind. Lots of terraces to have lunch and enjoy the view.

Of course I have special feelings about this building! My parents sat in the chairs there to be married. I attended the ceremony when my aunt was married there. I stood outside 10 years after WWII finished, as a schoolboy with fellow classmates to hear the mayor speak. I love Gouda by Candlelight around the (now former) town hall. There's so much history! I was pleased to take my then teen-age children there (born in Sydney). (We visited much earlier than 2012)

Great anno 1500 style homes and market place. Nice boat fare thru old Gouda.Historic and good views of old Holland prior to invasion of other cultures.

We drove from Kinderdijk along the Lek river and took the ferry for only 2. 45 euro across the river for a short drive to Gouda. A lovely Dutch town with nice shops, St John s Church and the old City Hall . You can visit the Gouda cheese shop which sells the best local cheeses. Walk through the old town with delightful houses on the canals.

The Stadhuis is unmissable, located right in the middle of the Markt in Gouda. Walk around the entire exterior to appreciate the detailed architecture of this lovely old building and the great photo opportunities provided. Unfortunately there was a wedding in progress when I visited and I couldn't go inside to view the interior.

Breathtaking view on any given day, this piece of architecture seems more like sculpted stone lace. Make sure you have a beer or the amazing french fries across the facade to fully understand what makes the Netherlands such a unique place...

An impressive yet quaint building. The red shutters and turrets makes the building look like it has been plucked straight from a fairy tale. Every half-hour a mechanical display is performed on the side of the building.
