After the the bombing of the center of Rotterdam in the Second World War this is one of the few places where you can get a feeling of Rotterdam in the old days.

After seven months living here, I still think this is the cosiest and different part of the city. The historical differences, multicultural inhabitants, cheaper prices make it good for grocerie shopping or even drinking.

We really enjoyed walking through this old area, particularly around the old windmill. In the morning not much is open but in the evening there are more restaurants and bars. Nice area to stay as well.

Historical evidence of the past where it was saved from the devastation during the WWII. It was a beautiful sight to stroll along this avenue of old houses. The traditional houses were a delight to see. We intentionally came here to feel the atmosphere of the place. A serene place in a typically dutch architecture.

A little slice of Amsterdam in Delfshaven. Has the appearance of a typically Dutch city pre WW (as it was not bombed) but without all the tourists. I live in the area and love it.

We had a lovely visit to peaceful atmosphere Oude Kerk and saw model of Speedwell- sister to Mayflower within and lovely stainglass. The area is quite a contrast to modern pulsing Rotterdam -certainly over new year anyway.

Delfshaven is a nice place to stroll when you have some time to yourself. Its the old part of Rotterdam with traditional houses and coffee joints. Take some time out one evening and spend it here to soak up the flavor of the city's old streets. Reach there by the subway taking the train towards Schiedam Centrum. Good to spend a few hours here.

A nice old part of Rotterdam (a pleasant contrast with the new city center) with many nice shops a nice (although certainly not posh) intercultural shopping street and many restaurants and pubs (of varying quality although at the old head near de Schie (the small river passing by it) you find some excellent ones ! )Easy to travel to by public transport take tramline 8/4 to Rotterdam Delfshaven or Metro station Delfshaven and walk south.

Traditional boats and an old haven, with wind mill and pleasant cafes, bars and restaurants. Worth a wander around to see another side of Rotterdam.

Lots of lovely havens like this all over Rotterdam - visit them all by bike and stop off for coffee en route. Do it the Dutch way!

I went for a walk down here, very much of an older European feel to this neighbourhood than the rest of modern Rotterdam. I believe it was one of the few areas that survived significant bombing during the war

Really only a couple of streets around a small historic port, but has nice well kept buildings. If you have never been up close to a windmill, there is one here where you can sit and chill and watch the river. Also there are a few nice Cafe´s and restaurants hidden around this area.

I loved this part of old Rotterdam. Time stands still here, there's not much to do, take a walk around see how it looked when first emigrants went into the unknown of the New World.

We thoroughly enjoyed exploring this little bit of old Rotterdam that bid farewell to the pilgrims on their way to America.
