Me and my partner found this place by chance.defo one of the best poncha's in funchal.Drink poncha while snacking on peanuts ,bolo de caco or chourico,while people watching in the lane ways..Service is great,the lady speaks perfect english and very friendly..try it and see it for yourself..were from sydney Australia,and definately returning here for summer.Madeira Tradicional see you soon

Thanks to her untiring efforts, I made it home with the Chestnut Liqueur I'd wanted since we were visiting at the festival time. Monica, you helped us so much and so grateful for your assistance. This place stocks my favourite Portuguese cologne and soap plus the welcome is so friendly. An absolute must for any shopper who wants the best of Portugal. Thanks again team!Ian and Edwin

I first discovered this place by accident, having noticed a sign for home made cakes. I have since visited several times. The home made cakes are divine and very reasonably priced. I believe they are made by the owner's mother. I have been at lunchtime and evening and each time it is a different experience. I have tried local tapas and Madeira wine which were also quite divine!The shop is very twee, it is how you would imagine an old fashioned shop from your parents (or grandparents time). All goods are either made locally or on mainland Portugal. I also noticed that the Madeira wine is cheaper there than the famous wine lodge-for the same brand! It is one of my favourite places to visit in Funchal and I shall be sad to leave but will definetly return fo rmore home made cake and souvenirs.

On the second last day of our holiday my husband and I decided to book a short tuk tuk tour. On a whim we chose the 'Chocolate and Wine Tasting' tour and ended up here. We packed a lot into our holiday and and had some amazing experiences but this was one of the highlights. Friendly, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable owners - I would recommend the wine tasting experience. We has such a good time we ended up having to leave some stuff at the hotel so we could fit some bottles of Madeira wine into our suitcases. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon we loved your shop.

Stopped here for dinner tonight as we fancied a change from the espetada heavy menus in the surrounding area. Largely my wife's idea and I will admit to having mixed expectations when I realised how small it was. I couldn't have been more wrong. Delicious wines. Delicious food. All very reasonably priced (even by current value pricing in Madeira!) Will definitely be back. Thank you.

This small shop at the antique part of Funchal has some very unique items, that you will struggle to find anywhere else. If you're trying to get a special souvenir to take back home, this place is definitely an excellent option. Instead of getting more of the usual stuff, I purchased the utensils for making the Madeira Poncha to my friends back home. I've got the traditional shaker (that is known by a word that I cannot write here) and a bottle of Aguardente Garajau. The friendly shop owner was kind enough to thoroughly explain the correct process for making an authentic Poncha and even revealed some secrets that the locals use for enhancing the flavor.Definitely a fun experience at the shop and great souvenir to share with friends back home.
