A place packed with restaurants. Very crowded during lunch time and on evenings. Lively atmosphere, however we finally dined at nearby Calle Plegarias (street leading to Plaza Mayor) as the restaurant, which we chose on Plaza San Martin, was not very interested in serving their new customers.

A great spot for having something to eat and do some people watching. Nice restaurants and tapas bars

This Plaza had nearly only cafe's and restaurants. In the evening the people from Leon "occupied" the square to drink and to eat. From about 21.00 hr the center of Leon is full of people. Very cosy and a good atmosphere.

This area has a wide variety for food and drinks. Many nice tapas bars to choose from. This is a people watching place. Not just tourists a lot of locals which makes it nice. A must see and do if in Leon.

The tapas culture in Leon is that you get one with each drink, soft or alcoholic, you order. By moving from bar to bar in this square and the surrounding streets you can get fed very chaply and that includes the drink. If the bar looks busy go in it as it probably serving one of the more interesting or better quality tapa dishes. Word of warning you can get very drunk doing this as a glass of wine is about 1.50€. Have fun...soak up the culture

This is the place you want to go for a wide choice of food and beverage as well as soaking up the local ambiance. There are a number of good tapa bars as well as other types of eateries and shops. It is easy to enjoy a wide variety of choices without leaving the plaza.

The area is called "Barrio Humedo" and just do as the locals: walk all around and pop in from one bar to another, ask for a vino tinto o blanco (red or white wine) or corto de cerveza (a glass of beer) and they will serve it with a nice tapa. Every bar has a different tapa (in the most of them you can choose from a variety )and all for 1,20 Euro each drink+tapa. Good for luch, in the afternoon or for dinner or just between a walk from the cathedral or the plaza mayor.Specially in summer time or easter time. Melt with the locals, eat ,drink and enjoy!

This lovely plaza comes alive at night. Don't expect a pari-like atmosphere. There are several outdoor restaurants. Just look at menus posted. I ate at one and was pleased. expect 8-12 euro for main dishes.

That is not enough to make it 'Great'. Yes, the many restaurants are a good reason to visit it. What it is not is a 'Drop-Dead Beautiful' plaza. You do not go there to be overwhelmed with the beauty of the place. It is a good place to watch people and to get a taste of life there. That is why I judge it average.

Ah-MAZING! This is the heart of the Barrio Humedo, very inexpensive and free tapas! Order a small beer or any drink and get a very large tapa with it! Sooo good!

Unbelievable variety of places to eat. The Plaza is filled with locals and good food. There are very reasonable places to eat. There is also the vibrancy and good feel you want for a special night out.

Come to Plaza San Martín to enjoy León's typical tapas. You can get a beer or beer for between 1-2 euro and each drink will come with a tapa. Some places have a signature tapa, and others have a choice of up to 6 or 7 tapas. You can eat dinner in Plaza San Martín by hitting 6 or 7 bars and paying around 8 euro.

Order a drink, a glass of Rioja for 1.80 euros and you will a get large portion of Tapas thrown in, which will be refilled gladly.
