In the middle of nowhere is this fabulous piece of architecture which is best seen close up to get the scale and beauty of the build.We parked at the site and a short walk took us to the site and were able to walk along the top with one eye looking down!!Worth a stop.

This is an amazing work and gives some idea of the architectural talents of the Romans. There are numerous Roman ruins in the Tarragona area, many within the city itself and easily reached by foot. Well worth a visit if visiting Barcelona.

Everytime there's friends or family come to Tarragona for a visit, we sure bring them to see this more than 2000 years of magnificent architecture! It's also a great place for a picnic, there are benches nearby. Kids can run about as it's a very safe plan.

I loved this we took a bus along to it with the locals and I rather like that. The Aqueduct is exceptional and has been preserved and looked after really well. If you have a chance go and walk along the top of it as it is so amazing!

A very big and beautiful place.We walk from the beach of Tarragona to the aqueduct and back.It was about 13KM in total.You can walk on the Roman Aqueduct.

We went to Tarragona from Barcelona by train on NY eve, 2014. We wanted to see the Aqueduct, which is a little distance out of town and were concerned on how we would get there and back. I found Eduardo Soler and Gerencia Limonium, which i believe is a relatively new company. He picked us up at the train station and took us to the Aqueduct. I don't mean he just took us, he went with us on a small hike to get there from the right approach and told us all about the history of the aqueduct, etc. he was wonderful and the aqueduct is well worth seeing, in fact it was amazing. I would highly recommend his services and/or seeing the Aqueduct.

If you have any interest in the engineering of the Romans, this is worth a quick stop to take some pictures. It's just amazing to stand there and realize that it has been there for 2000 years or so. Other than the top which has been recemented to allow walking, I believe it's pretty much the same as it was 2000 years ago. Having somebody take your picture from the ground while you are on top really gives a sense of the scale of the thing.The park itself is unremarkable and not well marked.We hired a cab to take us there and back at the flat price of E25. The driver also nice enough to walk us to the exact spot.

We walk from Tarragona beach to here (about 6km).The place is very beautiful.The Aqueduct is very big and in good condition!We love this place!

I really liked this excursion: it's in the middle of a pine tree forest and everything was really well looked-after. You can actually walk over the top of the aqueduct, which was pretty exciting :)

Firstly, the tour - details can be found at www.pontdeldiabletarragona.com and tours are run daily at 10am and 12pm. Since we arrived too late for either of those tours, we were encouraged by previous reviews to telephone the tour operator (the Tarragona tourism office very kindly allowed us to use their telephone) and we spoke directly to the guide, Edouard, who agreed to meet us an hour later at the aqueduct.) We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and got SO much more out of our visit than we would have if we had gone on our own. There is relatively little in the way of information in the park, so lots of people just walk through, look at the aqueduct, take photos and leave. Edouard, who is an agricultural engineer who speaks impeccable English, was incredibly knowledgeable on everything from the mining of rock materials for the aqueduct to the building of the aqueduct and the park built around it to all the flora and fauna in the park. It was so much more than we expected, even based on the great reviews. If you don't go with a guide you will literally walk right past roman mining sites and very interesting plants and more without even realizing. The aqueduct itself is amazingly preserved - looks as if it could still work today! Of course now you can walk over, under and all around it :) If you visit Tarragona, you MUST make the effort to visit the aqueduct and I would highly recommend a guided tour.Now a few details on getting there if you don't have a car:If you are doing Tarragona as a day trip, my advice is to set off early if you want to make the most of your time in Tarragona - we didn't have time for everything that we wanted to see in Tarragona itself the shorter daylight hours because we didn't want to miss out the aqueduct (glad we didn't!!). We were a little tired from a food tour the night before so we didn't get going until 9:30am.We took the RENFE train from Sants Estacio to Tarragona, a 1 hour trip. Since we arrived just before 12pm we were too late to join that tour so instead we walked to the tourism office and stopped to see several sights on our way (Mediterranean balcony, amphitheatre, roman circus, cathedral). After arranging our tour we then walked to the Placa Imperial where you can catch the No 5 or No 85 bus to Pont Del Diable, 1.45 euro for a single trip - and just a few minutes ride, the buses go every 15-20 minutes from there. After the tour we walked 10 minutes to Sant Ramon bus stop for the return journey. For more detail about the bus schedule and the return journey, see the review written on August 13, 2014 which gives a great deal of detail. You do NOT need a car to get to Tarragona or the aqueduct, public transport is perfectly fine. Enjoy!

Great place to visit. It is a good hike out from the city, especially in the summer heat. You can get very close to the aqueduct and, indeed, even walk across the structure. One little gripe - so much more could be done with this place, e.g. more tourist information (this could explain why I was the only person there when I visited). Having said that, this a truly unspoilt piece of history.

All around cool piece of history. Amazing shape and it is free. Take the 420 north our of Tarragona. Just on right 8 km out of town. Must see

A representative of the Tarragonna tourism office took us on a free tour of the aqueduct and park. His knowledge was extensive, and stories entertaining. We could make a donation at the end and it was well worth it.

I rented a car in Barcelona to go see this and was really glad that I made the effort. There are frequent trains from Barcelona to Tarragona but I was unable to figure out the bus schedule from Tarragona to the aqueduct which is several miles outside of town so rented a car for the day at the Sants railway station. The aqueduct is 2000 years old, amazingly well-preserved, and they let you walk over it and under it. There is an organization that gives tours and a guide from there was willing to meet with me on short notice. This was really worthwhile because there were many things in the surrounding park that I would not have noticed on my own, like sites where the Romans quarried the rock. This is a nice free park with free parking as well. They have kept this Roman Aqueduct in great shape. They have added new cement flat slab top to the aqueduct's top surface so that people can walk through it safely. This did not distract nor take away the beauty of the whole structure. It is amazing that some 2000 years have passed since it's original construction.
