The cies are beautiful (as long as you ignore the 2 hideous cafe/restaurants in pure spanish feismo urbano style) but hey, cold beer and hot coffee...Not an eco friendly island but 2 lovely trails:1) faro lighthouse is quite aclimb and no shade 2) alto principe is shadier and my fav for rock point viewsNudist beach available ( right)You will get sunburns wear a hat..Camping at least one night is highly recommended but BYO wine/snacks as the island is pricey and it really does add up fast!!Quaint hidden restaurant if u walk through camping and keep going straight (not up to church!!)charming and shady gilligan style although service is a bit rude chorizo/eggs and good fish

The city itself is beautiful, overlooking the Atlantic. Not so popular with tourists, so worth a visit!

Tickets to the ferry can be bought at the neasrest gift shop across the road from the Port of Vigo, or ticket-sellers may find you themselves - a girl was selling tickets on the street in the Port in the morning right before the fisrt ferry. We chose to buy the earliest tour, and it was a good choice, for people were scarce, both on the ferry and on the island. It would be wise to take some water and beverages with you, as the sun goes up it will be challenging to hike without water. Several routes are available, and we embarked on the route leading to the Mirador del Principe. Although I haven't hiked any other routes, I strongly recommend this one! The view on the finish point is magnificient! Even after a tedious hike, you will forget you're tired, and only stare at the island and ocean before you. Since we arrived early in the morning, there were almost no people, and there was even a moment we had this spot for ourselves, we even had lunch there, overlooking the island. As were were descending, groups of tourists started to pop up and climb the rock, so our timing was perfect! In order to enjoy some quiet time up there, better take 9 am ferry. Please note there are no bathroom facilities except for the cafe by the pier. The beach looked clean and inviting, but we didn't think the weatehr would be so lovely and didn't take swimsuits, so I cannot comment on beach and sea experience.The cafe and dinig area are spacious. It was lovely to enjoy a caipirinha with ocean view after the accomplished hike. For the return ferry some great queues accumulate, but I do not see any sense in queuing, the ferry is large enough and there're places for everyone.

The isles are absolutely fantastic. Views are well worth the hike up to the viewpoints.Don't forget to take enough water.The trip takes about 45 min one way. Take the first ferry at 9am, it's way less crowded.

... and cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean to (very briefly) swim in! We thoroughly enjoyed this day out. The persistent seagulls frightened some beach-goers but if you love birds, it's a pleasure to see them so 'tame', including on the picturesque nature walks, one of them an invigorating (or arduous) climb but well worth it. Clear water, lagoons teeming with life and one or two camp sites and self-service cafés etc. An article in "The Guardian" called this the main beach on Cies the best beach in the world, something which the local tourist trade isn't shy to repeat in plying for business. It's certainly beautiful, although prone to wind and read the opening comment about the average water temperature!!

The Cies Islands are fantastic, great natural parks, fantastic for walks and going to the beach. Great views from the top of the islands,It is a bit of a pain to reserve the boat as you have to reserve quite a bit in advance and then you don't know if the weather is going to cooperate.

beautiful beaches but go during summer months so the weather and sun add to the beach going fun. ferry could be a bit of a ride but worth it.

You have to visit this island, its like paradise. Only 2 restaurants but they do great snacks.No bins so make sure you take a rubbish bag to keep the island clean.

On time schedule to both ways, clean service and normal staff. A big boat with in side and outside seats

Great trip to the islands. From the boat you can check out the coast of Galiza and the beautiful islands from the sea prespective. The ride is very smood and calm. You can ride on top to see the view or inside if you are cold.

This place is heavenly- easy boat trip to the island. It's easy to lose a day here and then wish you had booked a camping pitch. Visitors will not be disappointed

Reasonably priced - lovely boat ride and gorgeous islands. Plenty of walking to be had, or just a stroll along the beach. Would definitely recommend!

White sandy beach, rugged coastline, nesting sea birds, scenic walks. Loved it all. The weather was definitely on our side: sunny but not too hot. Water is cold but refreshing after a hike. Most beautiful beaches you will find anywhere. Look for the little one at the southern end of the island. Lovely.

White beaches, blue sea absolutely perfect for a relaxing day walking and exploring and / or lazing on the beach.Understand can be very crowded in peak season.

I had heard several amazing things about the Islas Cíes from several Spanish friends, and was not disappointed! Although we arrived prepared for Galician and rainy weather (wearing rainboots), we didn't have a drop of rain and it was sunny all day. This allowed us to take the main hike up to the lighthouse--the views are incredible! From what I saw, all the trails are kept up well--no need for hiking boots, only comfortable shoes for walking. We brought a picnic lunch--there are lots of picnic tables along the paths to use. I strongly recommend going to the islas even if you aren't a huge hiking fan--the views are incredible, and the water is stunningly clear. Plan on spending all day there if you've got good weather!
