This is a long empty expanse of a beach. It is not overwhelmed with hotels and development. It is going back in time. Large waves...cool Atlantic water...incredible vistas.

My family and I have been visiting El Palmar every year for the past 15 years since buying a place in nearby Vejer De la Frontera. The bars and amenities have grown over that time but the beach still retains its slightly hippy vibe and beauty as there are planning restrictions on the amount of development allowed in the area. The beach is clean and well maintained especially during the summer months and there are plenty of options for eating both during the day and night. Parts of the beach have always been nudist and no one bats an eyelid. There are usually surfers on the beach regardless of the time of year and a hood choice of surf schools if you want to give it a try. My favourite timed if year to visit are from april/May to June and again from September as it can get very crowded in July and August although it is still a beautiful beach.

Palmar Beach has a slight hippy feel to it. It is friendly and feels safe and there were life guards on duty too. We liked the beach bars- very laid back - a contrast to the Costa de Sol. Watch the waves and the current though- they can be fierce. Plenty of sand!

Walking access directly from Conil. Though, if you want some privacy and rranquility, you either walk further away, to the south, where you find empty spaces - yes, even in august!- or you drive, the same direction. There is plenty of choice: for kitres, surfers, bach chairs, restaurants etc. the waves are strong so swiming is rather difficult. There are public showers. I personally prefered to drive to la Roche, where the stretch of the beach is less crowded in general.

Beautiful sweep of golden sand but extremely crowded, which is to be expected at the height of the summer.

Found this beach on the penultimate day of our holiday, we will be back! Vast expanses of clean sand and the best waves yet. We all had great fun diving through and riding the waves, just wish we'd had a body board! It was busy, but we didn't have an trouble finding somewhere to park, even found a free spot, even if you did pay, the most expensive I saw was 3 euros.Great day!

Our family spent one day at this beach. Very clean with bathroom facilities nearby and snack bars. We loved the fact that most of the other people appeared to be Spanish & German tourists (we didn't' hear any English the day we went).

What a great beach this is. We have been coming here for the last ten years and it has hardly changed. Really good family beach with good surf. Our daughter loves body surfing here and ask's to come back year after year. Great food on the roadside , try the tapas bar that is always packed. You will know it when you see it, busy all day from morning till night! I hope this beach doesn't get discovered by the masses it is wonderful.

A glorious expanse of sandy beach with a great variety of beach bars, restaurants and shops/stalls. Free Parking can be difficult to find at busy times, so would suggest biting the bullet and paying the 3 Euros to park in one of the many paid car parks.

Well worth the 8km drive. Local beach bars and restaurants along the entire beach. Big surfing/hippe crowd on the north end of the beach.

If your holidaying in the area do go to this beach, It's great for surfing and boogey boarding, it has a laid back feel and is also a bit younger in demographic. One word of waring do not leave valuables in the car

Love this beach for 11 months a year.... :) In August it is a bit crowded. Great for walks for km's, great waves, lovely sandy beach. Nice bars for tapas and bears, but also nice restaurants!

We stayed in the Hotel Madreselva in Caños- The beaches are beautiful and so is the pine forest, We ate in Vejer in the Casa de Califa - great food and garden and then went to Tarifa and spent a few nights in the Hotel Punta Sur!

Beautiful beach, I have never visited one cleaner! A lovely and relaxed atmosphere, and plenty of places to get something to eat or drink within a short distance.
