This is in a fantastic location overlooking the river. It is not just the castle but also the ornamental gardens attached with pools stocked with carp. The castle exhibits mosaics excavated from within its courtyards. Not spectacular but well worth a visit.

The gardens were delightful with an abundance of beautiful fountains and flowers. We returned in the evening to see the fantastic light and sound show!

While this isn't the most impressive of palaces, you can climb up the towers and look out over the city. There are also some Roman mosaics that were excavated on display, and the gardens are quite beautiful.

The original headquarters of the Spanish inquisition is here! Not a lot of information about it on hand, though--that should be improved. Lovely gardens; great for a peaceful pause in the day.

Possibly the nicest of the historic sites. Beautiful buildings but the stunning, peaceful gardens were the star of the show.

Not a lot within the building but the gardens are a welcome break from the hustle and bustle outside. We visited in February so it wasn't too crowded. I imagine the flowers are beautiful later in the season.

We arrived at around 830 as we had been told by our hotel that entry was free before 930. This was true (this was in Feb so not sure if it's a winter only opportunity). We walked around the building first. Close to the entrance there is a machine to purchase a souvenir book, be warned, it's loud! The building has a lot of items which have been found and put on display there. The mosaics were very pretty. The view from the tower is breathtaking. You can see across the city and it is very picturesque - I think I took about 30 pictures just from there. The gardens are stunning. I've never been one for gardens, but these were so beautiful, I just wanted to walk around and around. I could have stayed there for another few hours, just looking at the buildings, the stunning patio and the avenue of the Kings. Well worth a few hours of your time, and I would happily pay the entrance fee to visit again.

The gardens are a delight and even in March there are enough flowers in bloom. The hedges and topiary are well maintained. The reflecting pools and sculpture add to a terrific setting. The tower is interesting to climb, the views are wonderful. The mosaics in the meeting hall are dazzling.

check out beautiful gardens and allow yourself some time to spend there to enjoy it in fullest. Well preserved main past of the castle.

Impressive structure and nice views if you're willing to climb up one of the towers. The gardens are extensive and provide a relaxing escape from the crowds inside. Our ticket was valid for an evening light show at the fountains, but they didn't explain that we had to be there exactly at the starting time in order to be admitted (unlike like the Magic Fountain in Barcelona, where you can wander around freely). It would have been nice to see the light effects, but we were too tired to stick around for the late show.

as with most cities, it is a place on the itinerary. Nothing special, but great views from the towers. If you are going to visit Córdoba, this must be on the itinerary.

Went when there was quite a queue so left and came back a short while later and there was hardly anyone else there. Great to climb up one of the towers and get a great view over the gardens and town

We were lucky enough to visit on a Monday when the ticket allows you to go back in the evening when there is a son et lumiere show the highlight of which is spectacular water show involving the many water fountains in the ground . Well worth a visit.

Inside the castle was a little disappointing but well worth climbing to the top of the towers for fantastic views across the city and the river. Although the rooms inside are very minimalist there are a few wonderful mosaics. The gardens alone are well worth a visit. We were there in winter but even so it was a lovely area to walk around and view the various trees, bushes and fountains. Well worth a visit and at €4.5 euros very cheap too.

We went in February, when the formal shrubbery structure looked a bit sparse and dull. Someone in Andalus needs to decide to replace the dying box hedging we saw everywhere we went!
