Like so many places this great plaza in the centre of the old town is never at it's best in the middle of a drizzly winter afternoon in Mid Feb, but if you look beyond that it's not hard to envisage a great buzzing atmosphere full of life on a warm Summers day or evening. We loved the place and will return, the food in town is also worth a revisit!

Love the buzz of this plaza. Core of the city. Best views are from the 'Virgen Blanca Cafeteria' (had breakfast there every day in my stay, fresh orange juice, whatever to eat and a Latte for 2'5 £, and amazing service). Loved the street it leads to, specially the Correria (boutique charming shops). The plaza is like a decorated left over space that connects the neoclassic city centre and the uphill medieval town.

After the sites and shops closed down, we found that this plaza was a great place to walk around or just sit and relax. A few little cafes/bars were open for pizza or beer or gelato. Very clean and safe atmosphere.

This square is very lively specially at weekends. Lots of restaurants and pintxo bars. Lovely typical white houses with balconies around the square. The old town is just behind the plaza.

I visited this place on a International Music day, so there were a lots of musicians playing in the square, which added on the amazing atmosphere. Try mojito in one of the bars near the green letters saying Vitoria Gasteiz. If you don't want to end up soaking wet, watch out for the water splashing from the floor.

The "Plaza de la Virgen Blanca" is in the center of the city. There are many places and restaurants to visit around this place. In 2014 has been nominated to Gastronomic city of the year and all the weekends there are new "tapas" to taste.

Wonderful atmospheric plaza as you go up the hill, with the old parts to two sides. Sheltered from the cold wind in March with cafes/bars around.

This square is what you call a square with lovely little cafes and wine bars all offering pinxos of high quality. It has that busy but very select atmosphere and it sits under the very beautiful Cathedral. At weekends it is very busy so I would recommend if you are visiting Vitoria to visit through the week. Would return.

This square is located right in the centre of Vitoria and it is the perfect place to start a tour around the city. It is sorrounded by plenty of bars and terraces to have a drink or try our famous "pintxos". It is in this square where Virgen Blanca festivities start. On top of it you can find Saint Michael Church, where the patron saint of Vitoria is. If you go inside, you will feel the faith of the city in her.

La Virgen Blanca Plaza is the main square in Vitoria. It is also known as the Old Square. This square was built in the 17th century and an old market was found here. On the upper part of the square is the Church of San Miguel. In the middle of the square is the Monument to the Battle of Vitoria. There was a battle on June 21, 1813, between the retreating French forces who were accompanying Jose Bonaparte and the English forces under the Duke of Wellington. The English won the battle. The monument was created by the sculptor Gabriel Borras in 1917. The rest of the square is occupied by old buildings and there are many restaurants there. Many of the city celebrations are held in this square. The Fiesta of the Virgen Blanca (who is the patron saint of the city) takes place in this square every year on August 4. Celedon is a male doll that descends on a wire from the Church of San Miguel with his umbrella. Later on the balcony of the church there are native dances that take place.
