Great experience. My group had minimum experience and they were very helpful. Took an hour long ride for beginners and had a blast.

After speaking with Curtis about the type of horse I was looking for, he gave me 3 that he thought would be to my liking. I decided on "Titan's Big Man" a Tennessee Walking horse, sight unseen. My friends thought that I was crazy to buy a horse over the internet without riding him. They might be right in most cases, but I could not be more pleased with this horse. He is everything that Curtis said he would be and more. He is a perfect gentleman and joy to ride and be around. I would not hesitate to purchase another horse or recommend A Step Above Stables to my friends. Thank you Curtis it's been a pleasure doing business with you. Catherine Koszuta Ocala FL

I finally got my dream horse! My friend bought a great little horse from Curtis, Batman, and when I went with her to pick him up, looked at a couple of horses for myself. I found the Gambler, now nicknamed "Reno" (that has something to do with gambling!!). We got him home a couple of weeks ago and went for a neighborhood ride....what a joy! I was afraid to get a younger horse as my friend and I are no longer spring chickens. She got a 7 year old and I got a 7 year old, hopefully they will last us for the rest of our riding lives. Reno is the most personable guy and runs to the gate when I get home from work to greet me. Curtis does a great job with his horses and his staff are very helpful. If I outlive this guy, I will definitely go back to A Step Above.

We visited "A Step Above Stables" this week while staying in Ellijay for vacation which is 40 mins from Blairsville. The grounds were amazing, breathtaking and overall our experience was the best of our vacation. Jeremy, Our guide, was very polite and professional and made us feel safe the entire time during our ride. We were new riders but will make sure to make "A Step Above Stables" a visit every time we come to the area and recommend everyone to do the same.

My husband, daughter and I had our first horseback ride together as a family. Jeremy and Brandon kept the ride fun and comical. A great family friendly place!

I bought "Sponge Bob" a Draft/Paint cross from Curtis sign unseen. Most of my "horse" friends told me that I was crazy to buy a horse over the internet without riding him. They may be right in 99.9% of the cases, but I could not be more pleased with this horse. He is everything that Curtis said he would be and more. He is a joy to ride and more energetic and spontaneous (in all the right ways) than I could have hoped for. He traveled by trailer for 11 hours then went on an 8 mile trail ride the next day without any difficulties. What a great horse! Curtis and his team are excellent to work with and true professionals..... We will be back to ride in the mountains and visit him for any future horse purchases. Thank you Curtis!

My husband and I must have looked at several hundred horses on line including step above and called on only a few. I had talked to step above twice and kept going back to his website .We have horses but are getting older and were looking for a husband proof horse that we could do anything with. After the second call we decided to drive 3 hours and take a look .We told him what we were looking for and discussed a couple he had on the internet .When we arrived we were impressed by the property and settings and the condition of the horses. But what really got us was the fact that this is a family business. He had 5 horses lined up including the 2 we had talked about,I am so glad he did because we ended up with the horse I had been looking for for myself for along time and my husband had always wanted a draft now he's the proud owner of Belgium mare" Shiloh" We rode them both that day and went back the next week and rode them again before buying both.Every one there could not have been more friendly or helpful. Also in the x's we were there they had several group of riders go out for a trail ride and by the laughter and smiles we new they had a great x . they had even accommodated a couple of very small children with pony rides. We would definitely recommend A STEP ABOVE for a nice trail ride with your friends or if your looking for a good horse to but we bought 2. Whether you are just going for a ride or looking for a horse to buy there is no reason not to have a great experience at this stable

My family and I (5 of us)recently were in north GA and looking for a different riding experience than just a slow walk through the woods since the youngest with us was 18 and we had all been on trail rides before. ( not experts by any means!) A Step Above was able to accomidate us on a short notice and we had a great time. Since the ground was wet and muddy from recent rains, we were not able to trot for much of the ride , but we still enjoyed our ride. Our guide was very informative and fun to talk with during the ride. He made sure everyone was having a good time. The ride was a highlight of our trip to Georgia and we would definitely suggest A Step Above to anyone in the area.

Wanted to buy a GELDING… he sounded so sincere and helpful on the phone… got there and he pulled out 3 mares…one seemed and behaved sedated… when I told him I would consider and get back to him… he got flustered and started pressuring me… told me he didn't have time for me to make a decision bc he had a show to travel to…buyer beware of the horses history and ask where he got them from bc it appears he doesn't know much about them beyond the 6 months or year he's had them. I also notice that all his five stars reviews sound like they could have been by the same person. "my family… my husband and I… my kids… my vacation…" There is a reason horse traders have a bad name is this guy is one of them.

My son ( 6'4" 250 #), his girlfriend (5'1"and 110 #) and me (somewhere in betwenen but unfortunately closer to my son) went on a trail ride with A Step Above. They were excellent hostesses from my initial call since they said to call if someone in your party was over 240# until after the ride when we were allowed to tour their stables. Particularly nice is that each party has their own ride which allows the guide to cater to the group.

Took my daughter, her friend & my father in law. We enjoyed our time out in nature & the trail we were guided along. The folks that run the place were very friendly! We'd definitely go again when in the area.

Came in New Years Day with my husband and 3 kids (ages 8-13). My son has Aspergers and was incredibly nervous to ride horses. They were so great with him and all of our children. The horses were very gentle and the guides were so patient and kind. The trail is really pretty. Ride lasted about an hour and it was worth every penny!

Our guide Brandon was very knowledgeable, the horses were very well taken care of and the scenery was beautiful. Me, my sister and mother all enjoyed ourselves and I'm even considering buying a horse from them and most definitely will be back!!!
