We went there with great expectations for a Thanksgiving dinner but left disappointed.Not only did we have to wait 30 minutes passed our reservation time to be seated but the whole service moved super slow. The servers stood around waiting for the kitchen to catch up .No one from management worked the room. There was no Thanksgiving theme table decorations or background music. Just very average atmosphere for a special day. Some of the food was very good...like the squash soup. The main course got to the table in stages....by the time the vegetable and potatoes arrived we were finished eating the meat and stuffing. By the way no special choices for Thanksgiving. I did enjoy my choice of wine. The worst part was that if we wanted coffee or tea with our dessert we had to pay extra. This was quit an expensive meal...very poor of them not to include the coffee. I hope they will improve their service asap otherwise I fear they will not make it. This party of six will not make it up there again sometimes soon.

My husband and I attended a wedding at this venue and it was incredible! The staff went above and beyond to make sure every guest had everything they needed. The vineyards were an amazing backdrop at the ceremony site. Absolutely a wonderful wedding site for a wonderful couple.

We visited this because it's supposed to be the premier winery in the area, and it certainly is the biggest and most opulent. The grounds are absolutely vast, and the main building looks like an Italian version of a castle from King Arthur's days. There was a restaurant with a wonderful view overlooking the vineyards. The host asked if we had a reservation (it was lunch time) - we didn't. He said it would be about 10 minutes. I could see right into the dining room, and there were maybe 3 tables occupied and the rest were empty. He was pleasant enough, but I found the place to be a little snobby, and thought they took themselves way too seriously. That said, the service was impeccable and the food was out of this world. Prices are high, but the quality is there. Everything is farm-to-table and you can tell. I got a simple burger, and I think it was the best I've had in my entire life. This would be a great place for a wedding. They have villas on-site for rent too.

This was our fourth year visiting the winery and having lunch. The staff are super friendly and food delicious. The menu is unique. Love the chic vibe and views of the vineyard. Something you'd expect to see in Napa!

At first glance, Montaluce is beautiful. The grounds are beautifully kept and well landscaped. However, we were less than pleased with the reception and greeting. The service soured the experience for us. My group of five had to ask for the options for a tasting only, ordered our flight and went to sit outside only to be told that the section where we were sitting was only for people eating lunch (though it was empty at the time). The pleasant hostess took us upstairs only to find that the area was not available due to the hiking tour (although no one was there yet). She tried to accommodate us by moving a barrel and foot stools outside, but my group was over it by then. We decided not to finish our flight and go on to the next winery. I understand that this is GA and not Napa, and I understand that outdoor seating is first come - first serve. But we didn't feel the love. Perhaps Satudays when they are prepping for a wedding are not good times to visit.

My husband and I ventured to Montaluce after finding our stay in Helen empty during the week after Labor Day. Our friends had gone the week prior and said it was so good they went back twice.It was not a disappointment. The wine was superb and the cheese crackers honeycomb and salami sides were delightful. We went home with a case. The dessert wine is my favorite! The gift shop was not overcrowded with wine 'junk' as many tend to seem. It didn't offer much so it left plenty of $$ to spend on the most important parts... The WINE :)The view was just spectacular. Living in Florida we don't even get to see hills let alone a view like that. Wow!We met a nice couple who ventured from Atlanta and they go there frequently. They said it's one of their favorites, too. The only reason I don't give it a perfect 5 is because our server did not accentuate our experience. His demeanor was very dry and he wasn't open to conversation. His detail of the wine and how's it's created left me uninterested, just like his tone. This older gentleman was still courteous and not rude and helped us with all requests efficiently and quickly. We hate to be rude but just wish he was friendlier. I think it could have heightened our Montaluce adventure!If we get to that area again we'll definitely be going back.

Wonderful view with outstanding food and service at Le Vigne. White wine flight and red wine flights available at your table or in the tour area. Easy drive from Atlanta.

I love visiting this winery for the ambiance: the villas (which we stayed in one 2 years ago for our anniversary & it was fabulous, just like an Italian villa), the restaurant, the awesomely huge balcony where you can sit with your wine and look out over the vineyards - just perfect. The only thing about this winery is that I don't really care for the wines that much-they feel undeveloped, sort of like Chateau Elan's. However I would go again just for the classy yet laid back feel of the place. The staff is great and the food at Le Vigne (will do a separate review) is awesome! Sophisticated Southern. Perfect date afternoon or evening to do w tasting, have lunch or dinner and walk around the grounds.

We traveled from North Atlanta for a 3 day wedding event at the Montaluce Vineyards. There were about 200 guests and the venue turned out to be like a dream. The wedding was supposed to take place outside by the lake, but heavy rains dictated that the ceremony be held inside. They set up the chairs in the cellar where all of the casks are stored and lined the aisle with candlelight. Other than the light from the outside coming through the entrance, the candles were the only light and it was absolutely enchanting. The cocktail hour and dinner were held upstairs on the 2nd floor and it was just breathtaking with the terrace and the way they had the dining room set up. It was spacious, but intimate. The food was delicious and the wine was quite good. Because of the weather, we could not tour the vineyards, but the grounds are beautiful and it's a very peaceful setting. Definitely will be going up again during better weather.

The winery's grounds and facilities are on par with many found in Napa Valley. We were fortunate to have a private, deluxe wine tour with one of the sommeliers. The tour was detailed and very educational. I must say that we learned more about the wine making process and how to evaluate the quality of wine than I could've every imagined without sitting in some classroom with a stuffy professor. The quality of the wines we tasted were very good! I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. One of my favorite Georgia wineries.

We went up to visit several wineries and we stayed the whole day at Montaluce. Did the flights of 5 wines, we got to choose and were helped by the bartender with our choices. Sampled some great meats & local cheeses. The back patio with heaters was beautiful. Great wines, nice staff and beautiful scenery.

We went there with good expectations, having heard a lot about the restaurant and were familiar with the beauty of the North Georgia Mountains. The main dining building is extremely well done. While it has a Tuscany theme, thank heavens the designers and architect didn't try to artificially create the atmosphere of Tuscany, which you just can't do. So it was elegant without being fake. We went just after Christmas on a Saturday night. The room we were seated in apparently overlooked the vineyards, but obviously at night there was no view. It would have been nice if they had served in the other room with the magnificent fireplace, but they chose to put a large winetasting group in there.We chose the "flights" of wine and were served those almost immediately by competent, but rather robotic college students. Then we had to wait quite a while to even get some bread or crostini. In the meantime, the women at the table next to us started in with the loud, cackling laughs. I don't think they were necessarily drunk, just totally clueless about how to behave in an elegant restaurant. It was impossible for my husband and I to have a conversation. It was nonstop cackle, cackle, blah, blah. By the end of the meal, we knew every trip one of the women would take in the upcoming year,The food was not good. My foie gras tasted like lard and the "brioche" was some kind of deep fried bread that was too salty. My scallops and rice were also too salty. My husband's lamb was OK but the wild rice was too vineagery.I would also think at some point, the chef or SOMEONE in management would make the rounds and greet the diners. We had the impression we were dining in a rich boys' frat house. It would have been a nice touch and a bit of European flair, if that is their aim.I think a couple of people had a great idea and poured lots of time and money into this admirable project, but as is often the case, great ideas at the top and lots of investment don't work unless you get the idea right down to the last water pourer. Our servers were kids whose careers were probably not to run an expensive restaurant and their hearts just weren't in it. They may have been trained well, but it's not like they really knew what the food was all about. And I really thought all that "I'm Andrew, I'll be your server for this evening" went out by the nineties. Also, one even came out and started spraying a vacated table with some kind of cleaner. yecchh. Tablecloths, please!We will return as I think the setting is lovely and I would like to give the menu another go. And maybe we won't have to endure cackling, rude women. I'll let you know about the second visit.

Went to try a glass of wine with a cheese plate with friends. Service to get the glass of wine was very slow. Could not get the cheese plate since they were preparing for a wedding later that day. Music on the back outdoor deck with Tom and Julie was wonderful! Very talented couple! The tables around us had dirty dishes from other patrons leftover cheese and snacks. No bus staff and the yellow jackets were everywhere feasting on the leftover cheese scraps on dirty plates and wine left in the glasses. Beautiful building/facility but need to hire bus staff and also more staff to take wine orders. Not upset about the cheese not offered since we know they make good money on weddings. Just be aware that if you go on a day they are preparing for a wedding things may be different in terms of service offerings.

What a pleasant surprise! My wife and I had a wonderful lunch in a very attractive Italian style restaurant. The scallops were excellent! The wine was very nice as well. Attractive grounds, great food, friendly staff and good wine on a clear, cool Fall day. Perfect.
