We rebooked a tour (limited open hours otherwise) and had a lovely introduction from Mr Vaugn. The buildings are in the process of being restored but the signage and other interpretive displays are very good. Interesting piece of history. All the green irrigated grass was a little unnerving in the desert.

A lot of history here and excellent guides. The ranch isn't nearly what it once was but is still a very interesting visit. Lots of "way it was" buildings and fixtures and it is interesting to see how things were when there was more water in the area. Great background for understanding the area and its economy.

This free attraction is well worth an hour of your time. You need to pre-book to join a tour, or you can walk around on your own, but check the schedule - they are not open to the public every day. We found our volunteer docent very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting. Learned about the history of the ranch, the families that have lived there, and saw first hand the ongoing restoration.

The CANOA ranch tour is free and fascinating. Be sure to call ahead (520 877-6004) or emailCANOA ranch @pima.gov Tours are Tuesday and Saturday 10-11:30 and noon to 1:30This is a great photo opportunity! Plus we had a great guide who willingly answered any of our questions. A special bonus on our tour was the insights of a tour member who had actually lived on the ranch when his father was the ranch foreman. We heard many stories about this family during 1908-late 1960's. It was interesting to see various stages of rehab. The main residence is 3,500 square feet .It's adobe with a gable roof with cedar wood shakes.unique for the area at this time period. A retaque corral is massive. This "stack up" wood fence is 5-6 feet high and 24 inches wide.it was made from mesquite trees.
