My family and I have been to Arizona before. This past spring we decided to add Glen Canyon Rec area to our trip. Good choice on our part. We went kayaking one afternoon on Lake Powell at the Antelope Point Marina. We actually tried to book with another company in town but they were closed when we arrived on time at the store to pick up rental kayaks. I'm glad we went to Antelope Marina. Affordable rentals and convenient location right on the water. We had a great time on the lake even though we are pretty inexperienced kayakers. We pulled off on some rocks and did some swimming. Such a beautiful location. Great weather, calm really BLUE waters just like in the pictures. We also spent a great morning on the colorado river rafting with Colorado River Discovery. Fantastic day!!! We spent two days in Glen Canyon Rec area. It was sufficient. We also spent the next morning at the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. So glad we did this before turning west to the Grand Canyon.

Nice place. There is a small beach where you can enjoy with kids (if you have). If you are looking for cruise then you have a option and I must say you will enjoy ride. There are so many amazing views then you will like so make sure if you enough space in your camera to capture those moments. Enjoy!!!!

This is a fairly recent addition to the National Park system. This recreation area includes a lot of land around Lake Powell, so don't feel you are restricted to the water. The lake is massive, although losing volume due to the recent droughts. The area around the lake, including Page, AZ, is scenic and there are many attractions worth visiting. I took many trips just walking up a canyon and examining the ground. There are bits of pottery from ancient peoples, beautiful crypto-biotic soils, and startlingly odd colors and textures in the rock. The millions of years age difference of the stone from the North side of the lake along and into the Grand Staircase to that around the town of Page is like a sample of what you can expect further down the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon.Stay in Wahweap Marina in a beautiful hotel, camp in the campground, swim at Lone Rock, or rent any boat from kayak to massive houseboat, and enjoy the solitude you can find nowhere else among the convoluted folds of rock surrounding the lake.Page has many amenities including tourist shops and main-stream businesses. The rec area extends well South of Page to Lee's Ferry. A tour downstream shows what the canyon looked like before this massive conservation project (the Glen Canyon Dam) was built.

What a place, If I could only retire there! I took the family there several times. We did some swimming by the Dam, and then crossed the border to Utah. Beautiful! If you have kids that like to explore, this is a nice safe area.Page AZ is a nice area.

It's worth driving around and seeing the beautiful views, but no water activities in chilly November. You can still take limited boat tours, though. We didn't have time, the canyons must be very pretty.

Lake Powell has a dam similar to Hoover Dam, the boat ride here gives a better view of the cliffs. To get to the boat tour it take 15 mins hike down hill to the boat. To drive into this place you need to pay one time entry of $15.00 for car valid for 7 days. This place is good for some nice pictures and beware of cold weather in November go dressed up fully. The cost of boat ride is apporx $40.00 its worth if your a nature lover and want to see and capture beautiful scenic views.

The only part of the Recreation Area that we visited was the Glen Canyon Dam and Visitor Center. The center is very informative with wonderful views and an extensive gift shop. Don't miss a guided tour of the dam itself. Our tour guide was a former employee of the dam and was very well-versed in the workings of the dam. You get to walk out on part of the dam and then take an elevator down to the bottom to see the inner workings of the dam and get a view from the bottom. This is about a 45-minute tour and very well-worth it!

One of the most beautiful (and fun) places in the United States. Houseboats everywhere; fishing, canoeing, skiing, diving, you name it! The scenery is gorgeous with the buttes and red, pink and white rocks along the shores. I love this place!

The four hour journey down the Colorado river is excellent from seeing the tall cliffs from another angle to watching the fisherman out in the river fly fishing. The river meanders slowly for many mile as the water is held back by the huge Lake Powell Dam which is similar in size to the Hoover Dam. Both the rafting experience and a trip aroung the dam is well worth a visit.

A quick visit will surely make your trip to Page even better, the center is well maintained, properly documented and also has activities for kids. Our boy was quite motivated to get their Junior ranger badge. You won't be wasting your time spending 45 minutes at GCNRA

We wanted to see both sides of the Saguaro National Park, as well as Tucson, and the Living Desert Museum. This was a great place to stay. The RV spots were not close together, and it had hook-ups for $22.00 a night.

We took a rafting trip through Glen Canyon with Colorado River Discovery, and it was a very fun day trip. While Glen Canyon isn't the largest or most majestic in Arizona, it had some pretty cliffs and colors (maybe it would have been more impressive if we hadn't just come from the Grand Canyon). We didn't have the time or inclination to spend 4+ days rafting in cold water, so our one-day trip was perfect. The Glen Canyon Dam was cool to see from the water, as was the famous Horseshoe Bend. Another highlight was the ancient petroglyph panel where you stop halfway through the trip. All in all a fun, family-friendly day on the water (the rapids are very mild).

Glen Canyon NRA is very scenic and like an oasis in the desert. If you are a boater, you will love the place. It is run by the Bureau of Reclamation and is a fee area. If you have a National Parks Senior Pass, you can get it under that. Otherwise, it will cost you $5 to get through the gate. You can take the road to the marina and hotel area to get a feeling for the Lake Powell and the facilities. We made a quick stop to see what was there as we were basically just passing through on our way to the Grand Canyon. However, it is nice enough that we may want to come back to do a little boating on the lake.

This is an easy one mile round trip hike suitable for all abilities. The trail is in full sun, so sunscreen and water are a must. The trail ends in a shaded alcove where a garden of ferns grow. There are rocks a along the way, making it easy to follow. There are nice views of mountains and rocks along the way. No fee is required, and there aren't any restrooms.

Beautiful scenery, especially at sunset. If you take a boat tour try to be first to get place on a top level of the ship. Lower cabin does not give as good view as a top level.
