I grew up and still watch old westerns so this visit was a long time coming. The personnel really try to do a great job. But I wonder how long they will keep it up as it just seems like a job rather than an experience. The food throughout the park is really mediocre and the stock in the stores is uninspired. They had a good listing of the shows going on, but it almost seems like Hollywood has turned their back on this place. And we wanted to do the backstage tour, but no mention of it until we were there looking for it, and by then it was over. Glad I went once but unlikely to go again. Definitely feels like an attraction gasping to be relevant.

We recently visited the studios at Old Tucson and were appalled by the condition corral and Pen the livestock were kept in. Lack of fresh water (green and slimy) overflowing with Horse Manure .. It was obvious that the animals had not been curried or cleaned for quite sometime.

We'd earlier stopped at the Arizona Sonora Desert museum just three miles away on the same road. We came away from that attraction feeling underwhelmed. We felt it was a bit overpriced and just not that interesting. As we passed by the Old Tucson attraction we turned back to it, and were very glad we did. This recreation of a wild west town is very well done.,The guided tour of the town, and the realization of how many famous western movies were made there, added to the experience. We watched a realistic gunfight reenactment, and saw a terrific musical review consisting of clips from many of the famous movies accompanied by live songs from the movies sung by four talented young ladies in period dress. There are some attractions near one side of the property just for little kids...merry-go-round and a miniature train around the whole property (great for adults too).We were fortunate that as we toured the property the was a stream incoming attendees to a major weekend-long Steampunk convention, with people arriving from all over the country in their splendid Victorian era and other eclectic costumes. These friendly and colorful people added a lot to our experience and they fit right in with the "vibe" of a wild west town.Old Tucson had many colorful places to eat or have a drink, and lots of authentic-looking cowboys and women eager to add to the realistic experience. We consider Old Tucson to be one of the highlights of our first visit to Tucson. Good for kids of ages and very much worth the price.

I have been to Old Tucson before and after the fire. It is a fun place to get a taste of the old west.

This has always held a special place in my heart. I have been visiting Old Tucson since I was a teenager back in the 70s. If you are into the old style westerns you will love it. Alot of the old sets from Little House and others are still there as well as the movie sets from a lot of John Wayne movies. There are some gift shops in the park as well as really nice restaurants. And an ice cream parlor in the hotel. There is a stage coach ride that takes you back in time. If you want a day of relaxation and fun be sure to visit Old Tucson. You will not be sorry.

I grew up watching Cowboy movies and reading about this frontier land.Who knew I would get so close and explore this area on hand, one day. But Old Tucson is amazing. Especially for those movie lovers from the days when good old Western movies were made. Not this technical stuff they show on TV these days. This is John Wayne and others. The Old Tucson location is a beautiful drive from I -10. Signs everywhere that will help you find it. You could see the Desert Museum and then also stop in the afternoon at this attraction. Both are on the same road. Beautiful drive through nature. They are really a great job of keeping it up and maintaining the atmosphere of the movies.Life scenes are played out in the middle of the court yard and the Saloon has life shows with dressed actors singing the theme songs to many of these movies. Everyone knows at least one song and it puts a smile on their faces. Lots of applause at the end. Restaurants and gift shops of course and many displays. A courthouse, of course a jail etc.You can do horse back riding, and a little train ride and carnival attraction for the younger kids. The grounds are just big enough to keep you busy and going but not like one of those gigantic amusement parks. You can spend a wonderful afternoon there and will go home smiling. Clean, well taken care off and a nice little gift shop at the end and one or two in the park. They are really working hard on keeping it all alive and preserving the memory and to give everyone a good show. You can't go wrong. Kids friendly and for all ages something to enjoy.

Make sure to see the movie re: John Wayne. Cool to walk the same streets, and movie sites he walked. Be sure to do the clever, funny, cowboy show for free, nice train ride. Relaxing. Scenic.

The place is very impressive, it is like stepping back in time and much so when you see some of the icons of the spaghetti westerns and TV shows you've seen in your childhood. Just last week I happened to be watching a re run of the "little house" when I saw the Hotel and the school / church I had just visited the week prior. It is a must see if you ever visit Tucson. It may take an entire day to see the different "shows that go on in the town . it is very entertaining and you get lost looking at all the detail and different things the place has to offer. Their Ice cream is not bad either , after walking around a while it is a God sent on a warm day.Over all it is a good value and worth visiting if you are in the area.

This was my third time going to Old Tucson movie set. I really enjoy just walking around and looking at all of the old buildings and items. The train ride is fun but I thought when I was there before the guy running the train talked about the different buildings as we went around. This time, nothing, just a train ride. While we were there they were having the Steampunk (sp) Bizarre which was fun to see. All of the costumes, most of which were GREAT, was fun to see. We walked through the bizarre which was interesting and fun. While this is needed to raise funds for the running of the establishment, it sure distracted from the western theme of Old Tucson. I was a little disappointed.Yes I will go back again because I see something new and different each time. The haunted mine was absolutely the best. Great job on that. The guy operating it was funny and helped make it a good experience.

$36 and 2 hours of my life I'll never get back. The only attraction of any interest was the movie exhibit which wasn't worth the price of admission and even than was lacking. The food is not very good and overpriced. This might be fun for children but there really is very little movie history here. We went to this based on the reviews on Tripadvisor, needless to say we were very, very disappointed.

We read the Trip Advisor reviews and it sounded like a fun place but we were sadly disappointed. For the price we were certainly expecting more. The day we went they were having a Steam Punk Convention which explained the number of people there. Although the buildings do look similar to movie sets everything is very commercial. We were looking forward to a nice BBQ lunch so tried their BBQ restaurant which was not very good. The brisket sandwich was very greasy and the rib tips were mostly fat and very greasy as well. Everything was overpriced. The reviews mentioned a trail but it is not an authentic Old West train but a tram-like child's ride. Perhaps for children this might be fun but for adults expecting some type of authenticity it was not good at all. We attended one show - the stunt show - and were surprised at the attitude of the "actors" - a lot of comments making fun of the members of the audience as they arrived but worse was a very disgusting off-color comment during the show itself. Certainly THAT was not for children. For the price paid for admission and the cost of food it is definitely over-rated by other reviews. The only thing of interest is the movie museum with some old costumes and other movie memorabilia.

My husband and I visited here on our first trip to Arizona. A lot of fun! A park attraction setup like an old west town... salons and all.
  • 2freetogo
Yes, it looked like an old western town and that brought back memories of old show. However, that all ended when you walked into Olson's Mercantile and they were selling souvenirs. Guess we were expecting too much when we thought it would be a replica of an old store. Many of the stores were the same. The shows were the only redeeming part of the place. The price was definitely too high for what you received. Oh well, we can say we have been there!

First of all, this is NOT OLD Tucson. It is a movie set. Evidently some people have a concept that this is the real old Tucson. You want what's left of real and old, go to Tombstone, but you might be disappointed there too.Second, I agree that it is asinine to close this place all summer. I missed a visit last summer after traveling clear from Ohio, trust me I WAS PISSED. I knew it would be hot but I still wanted to see the place. Even if it is limited, it should still be open.I walked everything today but The High Chaparral and Stage 2. I had already done some walking at Saguro National Park and doing all of Old Tucson was just not in my knees. That being said, I don't feel like I missed anything essential. As for pricing, I agree, $20 is too damn high. $15 would be pushing a proper envelope. You guys need to learn the concept of Work Campers and Interns if you haven't already.Everyone I dealt with was super friendly. Especially the old gent who runs the Gold Mining. I will say one thing for you to think on. When people come through your gate, they are expecting an experience. If you go to Disney, their people NEVER break character. Same goes for many Renaissance Festivals. it should be the same way with Old Tucson. Even if the place IS a bit Hokey, if everyone was in character at all times,it would not seem so bad.I am old enough to remember some of the original western amusement parks, with their gunfights and other shows. They were MUCH more authentic than what I saw today. There was a place in Upstate New York called Frontier Town. When you went through their gates you were transported back immediately. No Hokey About it.The same complaints get written about Tombstone. Talk about too modernized.Instead of just keeping a movie set alive, they are trying to create a theme park and missing. If you are a movie buff, you'll love this place. if you are looking for a Western Disney World. It isn't here.

Went here with two young children. My four year old had a blast. He took a pony ride (for a small donation) and had a blast. It was fun to walk around and take part in all they had to offer. Everyone was having fun playing they part in the old west scene.
