Open Public park with information boards that tell the story of early Yuma when it was the primary river crossing point and a major point when heading west. The park is nice and well maintained with lots of shade and places to just relax. Combine a visit here after taking the guided walking tour of Old Yuma, lots of cross over information. Park is close to Old Town shops so get takeout and enjoy the park.

I'm glad that the people of Yuma have preserved this historic site. We found it very interesting. Coming from the upper plains states, we knew nothing about the transportation and irrigation history of SW Arizona. We found it very interesting.

this is your typical tour, they have old stuff to look at, seems that there are a few volunteers here and there but they're kind of in their own world. would have rather just went to the actual crossing and watched current modern day trains pass by.

Yuma should be congratulated on the development of this area. Lots of signage that gives heaps of information about the area. Gives you a greater understanding of the importance of the Colorado River to the area. Bring you bike and your family and go for a ride by the river. Definitely worth a stop.

We happened upon this place because of a farmers market on Sundays. While the farmers market is held on the grounds, no admission is charge and all displays are open. An extra bonus. You can also walk along the river.

There is so much information about history out west!! With the time! I was there with a group of high school age kids. Each of them also found this very interesting. They seemed to take pride in where they were from after hearing how Yuma got where it is!

This is a wonderful place to learn about the history of the Yuma area. It is also called the Quartermaster Depot and is in the old downtown area just off interstate 8. The park is part of the park system and has a low admission fee.You can walk the grounds and get a feel for what life was like years ago when the military were the only ones here, and how the area developed over the years with the development of the irrigation system. Great way to spend an hour or the whole day. There are picnic areas and lots of grasses areas to sit.

Lots of information there, plus lots of displays. We stopped by at the cafe for some pie and tea. Quite knowleable staff.

Very realistic and interesting site. The old trains, wagons, etc are a great reminder of the olden days. Brought back some wonderful memories.

If you are passing through Yuma on the Interstate and want a break from driving, or if you have been in Yuma Old Town or the Territorial Prison, then a visit to this nicely landscaped park could be a good idea for a walk or picnic. There are some pleasant grassed areas, paths, access to the river and some information on the history of Yuma. At Pivot Point there is also a Southern Pacific Locomotive on display that has stairs up to the drivers cab. This review is for Gateway Park rather than the Quartermaster Depot that is at the west end of the park and is worth a visit, as is the Colorado river syphon rise (but that is only a one minute visit).

Traveling I-8 across Arizona can be mind-numbing. We stopped here on a beautiful mid-October morning and had a wonderful time wandering the grounds. The grounds are well-kept and well-marked. It was interesting learning about the water project. The staff was very helpful. It was worth the stop.

Very Friendly helpful staff, great source of informaiton and a neat place to see things you might not have expected in the desert. Educational but fun and something to be proud of, well cared for items.

A pleasant exibit of historical Yuma Quartermasters Post. Nothing too studding or exciting, but a nice quiet walk through the history of the site and the Yuma area.

this is for history buffs. Has many items dating back to the time that it was a calvary depot in the old west. Several buildings on the property that can be seen depicting the time period. Also has a room dedicated to the Yuma Water project and how water from the River is diverted into the Valley. Give yourself about an hour to see it all.
