A rail trail running through Bloomington and Normal, spurs go off on Sugar Creek and to the boundaries of town. Worth experiencing on foot or on wheels!

The Constitution Trail is such an asset in this community. IT seems safe ( except when some bikers are speeding and don't give a warning to walkers!) and clean. Plus at one trailhead near Hoose Ele School porta potties have been replaced with a very clean bathroom building. There are several benches to sit and rest. I wish markings for distance were more frequent along the trail. My friend visitng from the Chicago suburbs was quite impressed with our well maintained trail.

I discovered this trail while going on a morning run, it was such a beautiful site considering the area I was staying was in the heart of a shopping district.

The trail started 25 years ago as a rail-to-trail connecting Bloomington and Normal, and has steadily expanded since. Today there are branches connecting many areas of the two towns, and expansion north and south along route 66 is happening, too. Great place to walk, ride, or jog. Just remember to share the trail!

I wish we had a trail like this at home! Miles upon miles of well kept paving, with water stops and little areas in the shade to rest in, lots of pretty scenery!

Located right in the city this is a good 24 mile trail for walking as we did. Saw some people on bikes and running.. Of course we did not do the full length but did have a good time getting some needed exercise.

Nice place for a family outing to ride/walk/jog. Main North/South trail is under covered trees for days when it is hot and sunny.

A linear park composed of miles of lovely paved trails. Perfect for biking, walking, running, and even cross-country skiing in snow season!

I have cycled every inch of the Constitution Trail and it is a nice trail for walking, jogging, blading, and the casual cyclist. Great parks directly off the trail at several locations with an excellent ramada and new public restrooms at the central "Y" triangle confluence. The Vernon/G.E. Road section of the trail has numerous cracks and rises running the width of the trail making parts of it an extremely bumpy cycling ride. The Constitution Trail is a great system to navigate the cities without cycling directly on the streets. However, the serious cyclist may find the frequent street crossings and bumpy surface conditions a less than desirable alternative to street riding.

This trail is very well maintained. I would recommend it for cycling. If you are interested in a hike there are many other choices that would be better. Be careful because there are several crossings that require you to cross heavily traveled roads. This is especially difficult if you are walking with someone that is disabled in any way or have a stroller.

Probably one of the top places to do your jogging in BloNo. I go there every morning and great to see other families during the morning enjoying the outdoor.

I can't say many negatives about the trail. It is very well maintained for running, walking, cycling, blading, etc… It runs all through Bloomington/Normal - - so it's nearly accessible from anywhere in town. Marathon training is a breeze, as is just taking a lovely stroll with your pet or children. There are SEVERAL road crossings, which is why I give it a 4 instead of 5. Unlike a "rails to trails" type of trail…this one runs right though the centers of the towns, so at some points, you're crossing roads several times in less than a 1 mile stretch. If you have to clip out of your pedals, stop your pace, or use the trail for training, this can sometimes be a nuisance depending on the time of day and time of year. Otherwise, it's a wonderful and perfect addition to a beautiful city.

Constitution Trail is a great local setting for running or cycling. It's setting is generally fairly natural, although there are some more industrial areas. The trail does cross several busy roads, so caution is needed at times.

The other reviews have provided plenty of detail. I will add that Bloomington is planning to add a roadside bike lane to connect to Constitution Trail. It's about time the city realizes how much revenue the Trail generates for local businesses that are easily accessed from it.

Constitution Trail is a park that traverses much of Bloomington-Normal...both North and South and East to West. Great for running, biking and walking. One of the best parts is going through "Uptown" Normal....coffee shops and restaurants abound...I would suggest "The Garlic Press" for coffee and lunch...but, there are several others that are worth a stop..Since I live in Bloomington, I use this on a weekly basis, 12 months out of the year!
