A newer addition to the Shawnee area wineries, Lincoln Heritage is a very welcoming place. The folks who run it are great and will answer all your question about the wines and how they are made. The winery is very cozy and there are sweet dogs to welcome you. The wines are all very good!

It was my husband and my first time at this winery. The atmosphere is very peaceful and relaxing. The owner was very welcoming and informative about each wine they offered and other local attractions. The best part of wine tasting was tastings dessert wines in chocolate mini cups and eating the cup after drinking the wine. It was delicious.

I have been to many of the southern Illinois wineries and added Lincoln Heritage to the list just recently. A few weekends ago I visited with a girlfriend and spent part of a very hot Saturday afternoon enjoying the winery's Water Tower White. If you like pinot grigios I think you will like this. You can bring your own "munchies" and we did so when I traveled back the following weekend with a group of ten. The owner/hostess is a very nice, personable lady who's name, I am embarrassed to say, I have forgotten. Enjoyable addition to the southern Illinois wine trail!

I visited the Lincoln Heritage Winery last week, during my trip to Illinoi. I live In San Francisco, near the famous wine country Napa and Sonoma; so my friends and I took 1 hour drive down south to see Illinoi’s wineries. Among all of them Lincoln Heritage was the best. It is located in Cobden Il. Unlike other places this one provides a sophisticated atmosphere that is also relaxing. The main tasting room is furnished with antique furniture, something that I didn’t encounter at other wineries. The owner of the winery Bonnie travels to many antique shows and buys them there, she will tell you a fascinating story of each peace as she pours you a glass of an outstanding wine. Bonnie’s husband Homer designed the entire wine room and the wine bar. Now about the wines: Bonnie is highly knowledgeable about wines, the food - wine pairing and different wineries from all over the place, CA, IL, and Europe. You must definitely try all of them, especially Egyptian Gold, Water Tower and Chocolate Cherry. Next time when I visit my friends I am for sure going to make that trip to visit Lincoln Heritage Winery again, there is nothing like this one in that area. You can’t compare Lincoln to other wineries because Lincoln Winery is just so beautiful and amazing. Highly Recommended place.

The first stop on our winery tour and couldn't have started more pleasent. Bonnie and Homer are just great people. Bonnie took the time to explain how they started the business, how they produce the wines and what particular wines go with what particular foods. The wines are named after Chicago traditions, e.g. Water Tower. It was friendly evening of wine tasting and conversation. They set the bar high for the remainder of our visit. One other thing should also be pointed out...the wine is very good. While not currenly part of the Shawnee Wine Trail, Lincoln Heriitage Winery is worth locating and visiting. Enjoy a glass, and leave with a bottle.

Homer and his wife are fabulous hosts! Always take time to meet their guests and introduce them to each wine. It is truly full service here. Love the rail splitter and the cherry chocolate!

Nothing is more relaxing then meeting a few friends out in the middle of the day, catching up and sharing an amazing bottle of wine. Bonnie and Homer have created a cozy, intimate atmosphere that is easy to settle in to. Their knowledge of wine is deep but relatable making the task of settling on just one bottle a difficult one. Our friends ordered pizza from a local pizzeria and we enjoyed Rail Splitter....a delicious red while we chatted. The guitarist playing was amazing and a perfect backdrop in the homey environment. This is a great place in any season to stop by, meet old friends or new and unwind!

I loved the owners, Bonnie & Homer, sweet as can be- Wonderful company! The friendly dogs & what seemed liked hundreds of hummingbirds made for a beautiful and relaxed atmosphere. Bonnie & Homer are very knowledgable about wine and have a lot of experience from around the world. Their wines are delicious!! Can't wait to re-visit next time I'm in SO ILL

Friendly place to sip and taste several wines. Owner rescues dogs so it is a very homey atmosphere. View of the vineyards from the patio is pretty. Shawnee wine trail is a nice day trip but Napa and Sonoma have nothing to worry about. Wines are fruity and good, though.

Not much of a wine connoisseur myself, but my wife is from Belgium, and she raved about the quality. We spent several hours there soaking up the charming atmosphere and the exceptional friendliness provided by the host and hostess, who gladly supplied scads of wine information, as well as great hospitality. The outside was as pleasant and spacious as the inside (although when we were there, it was a little too hot to stay out there). And they had an interesting selection of hand made craft works for those of us who like to browse through that kind of stuff. Everything about the place has a personal touch. Highly recommended.

Great Sweet Wine! Nice location just above Anna, IL. Nice patio to sit and listen to the birds.

A fun addition to our winery tours last weekend. We were met at the car by 3 friendly dogs (but big, if you're nervous around dogs, which I'm not). They followed us inside where we were the only ones in the winery and had the owner's (Homer) undivided attention. Wine was pretty good, but we had an entertaining conversation, which made the visit even better. And, well, I loved the dogs!My friends bought the last 2 bottles he had on hand of Ruby Red - I was bummed I didn't buy one first! :)

You may have to veer off the beaten path slightly to arrive at this gem but it is well worth it. Lincoln Heritage is owned by a delightful and exceptionally knowledgeable couple who love to share their passion of wine and area history with everyone that visits the winery. I was there on a Saturday it was busy but I never felt like I had to wait for another tasting. After the tastings I bought a bottle of wine and enjoyed it in the lovely patio area. The views were beautiful, what a great place to relax. I do have to say I am partial to Reds and Lincoln Heritage did not disappoint …I loved, loved, loved the Rail Splitter, and the Vintner’s Reserve were so full bodied….. yummy. Though I tend to favor the Reds I also found myself obsessed with the Vintner’s Riesling, so fresh, crisp and enjoyable. Additionally the Ramblin’ Raspberry is my new favorite summer wine it is the perfect harmony of sweetness with subtle nuisances of raspberry to add a tart layer. This is a perfect wine to sip on a warm summer evening.Do visit this winery you will not be disappointed, not “boring wines” here. Plus everyone is so friendly.
