I love that the little community that we live in has a great art and music scene. You can always find great paintings, photos, sculpture, etc by local artists at this lovely venue. What used to be a men's clothing store many years ago, has been transformed into a showcase for the arts in downtown Dixon. My wife & I go there weekly to see the constantly changing exhibits by local students, area amateurs and nationally known artists. The Next Picture Show also hosts numerous musical performances. There is no admission charge to wonderful non-profit endeavor, which is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm.

The lighting and display walls for art are superb. The warmth of orginal wooden floors and brick walls makes the space very pleasant. The director and limited volunteer staff are intelligent and helpful. Frequent exhibitions and classes and occasional musical performances make this a total art experience for locals and visitors.

An awesome , incredibly professional, visual art gallery in this city's downtown. Exhibits frequently change. One block for The Rock River National Scenic and Recreational Waterway. Minutes from Interstate 88 Dixon exit.

In 2003-2004 this vintage 1854 building (7,700 square feet) underwent complete restoration recreating the 1898 facade look and retaining the original wood floors, tin ceilings, and internal structures where possible. The Next Picture Show Fine Arts Center is a non-profit organization.The art gallery is used for art shows, recitals, receptions, or any event that is deemed extra special. It also houses the studios of artists, Jane Cress Edgar and Bob Logsdon.The Art Study, on the lower level, is used for art workshops and classes, student art exhibitions, and meetings of the art community. Even the casual art lover will appreciate what is on display and also appreciate the attractive surroundings. Staff is crazy friendly.
