Hughes Creek Golf Club is located west of Chicago in Elburn, Illinois, north of Interstate 88 and just east of Route 47. The course is located in a rural area but easy to get to from the highway. This course is well set up for intermediate golfers, as the fairways are wide and forgiving for those who don't always hit drives down the middle. There are sand traps on every hole which do provide some additional challenges and a handful of holes have water on one side or the other. We went on a Monday and never had to wait for anyone ahead of us and finished in 3-1/2 hours, which was great.The course is in decent shape, the fairways aren't as manicured as more expensive courses, but the greens were in decent shape and were fast. The greens were not extremely challenging, but again, for intermediate golfers they were just fine. We played the course for $24 with cart by booking through a discount golf website vs. the published rate of $32 on the golf website, and we consider that a fantastic rate for the Chicago area. Soda, hot dogs and chips at the halfway house was $12 for two people, which was reasonable.
