heap's giant pumpkin farm

Our family drove over an hour to search out a large, correct that, HUGE, pumpkin for this year's fall decorating. We had never been to Heap's but we're overwhelmed with how wonderful the place was when we left. And when we did leave, we certainly left with heaps of pumpkins and one, in particular, that took up nearly our entire trunk. Obsessed with getting a giant pumpkin this year, I googled "giant pumpkin farms" and came across Heap's. We expected to drive a bit and got there just a before opening on a Sunday morning. They do not charge for general admission and pumpkin getting, but like many of these farms, there is a small, although shockingly reasonable, fee for their corn maze and other add ons. We did not check out any of these other features, we came specifically for pumpkins. They have plenty of pre-picked pumpkins to choose from, although you can take a hay ride out to their fields and pick them yourself if you would like. We went with the pre-picked ones and left with a car full. Prices are excellent (especially when compared with the suburban pumpkin farms closer to our area) and the variety of pumpkin/gourd styles is amazing. From green to yellow to white, they had all colors, all shapes, and all sizes. Eating squash like butternut and spaghetti, pie pumpkins, warty pumpkins and perfect jack-o-lantern shapes. I could not get enough! I personally left with two wagons full of pumpkins and with it, one super giant awesomely huge mega pumpkin. The staff here is excellent and reminiscent of the small town charm you should expect from a place like this. We must have asked a dozen questions and talked with half a dozen staff members, all equally happy to be at work. I highly recommend that you get out to Heap's to find your Great Pumpkin and to experience this place for yourself.
