It's a beautiful scenic park along the Mississippi River in Illinois. Nice hikes with some hills. Camping and picnic areas available.

We drove through this State Park to see if it would be someplace we would like to stay. It has very nice sites and wonderful scenery. We cant wait to return and stay!

the park and trails were well organized / our hike was great - good vistas and foliage. Our mistake - we were 2 to 3 weeks late to see the fall colors. We will return next year during the first or second week of October. We really enjoyed our time at the Park.

Beautiful in the fall and full of life in the spring! They have plenty of trails to walk and is right next to the beautiful and mighty Mississippi River and is only a few miles from downtown Savanna,IL and small River Town of Sabula, IA

First time visiting this beautiful place. We were there on Sunday Oct 19th, the views are gorgeous, I loved the yellow leaves everywhere and the incredible views of the Mississippi! If you can visit this place during fall, do it! It is a wonderful time to go and see the leaves changing and the bright reds, oranges and yellows!

i'm obviously out of shape. the park is pretty, leaves changing, many trails, very clean. overlook is very nice. but the trails killed me. lots of incline and steps on many. will go back but need to get in shape first!! ha

The lookouts provided beautiful views of the river and were easy to get to, just a short walk. The drive through the park in fall was really magnificent. We took 3 of trails in the south end and they were challenging, glad we had our walking sticks with us and boots on our feet. Don't try it when the trails are wet. The scenery was great. We took the High Point Trail on the north end, very wide and the incline was steep, but not challenging.

Visited mid october weekend. The park wasn't busy so no trouble finding parking and accessing the lookout points. Favorite part was watching the eagles fly very closely over head from all of the lookout points. View of the Mississippi river is also breathtaking. Went with kids so couldn't take advantage of the hiking trails but this would be a nice park to hike in. Only negative was that the park office was closed during the day so no one to ask for guidance but they did have pamphlet maps of the park outside of the office door.

We stopped here on the way home from Galena and wished for more time. The State park is very wooded full of steep hills that climb to panoramic views of Mississippi River. There were several hiking trails that looked to be challenging but we were not prepared for hiking. Picnic areas are plentiful and very pretty.

We stopped for an overnight during one of the cooler nights in Sept. Plenty of camping spots open. Nice showers. Everything is well maintained.

Camping here was easy-only about 20 others here in mid September. Choose a pull through site and had the loop all to ourselves. The Park is well kept though the bath/showerhouse was showing its age. Very quiet. Lots of places to see over the Mississippi River. You have to drive to each point, then walk a short bit but each is unique and worth it. Flooding the week prior still quite evident in the National Wildlife Refuge that you see. They were working on trail maintenance which was good. The 2 we hiked had some trees down and needed attention but they were fun and challenging. Overall a good park that we would revisit but better trail maps with details and distances should be provided please.

This State Park has a good camping area but camp at the second camping area away from highway because this has seclusion, hookups and not too many other campers.

We were a little disappointed with this state park. We could not locate a map, and once you're driving around up in the park it is very easy to get turned around. We slowed down to ask for assistance and a worker just blew grass at our car! We did eventually find a beautiful lookout point!
