I traveled Route 66 last year on a solo motorcycle trip from Ottawa and made a point to stop at Henry's. The conversation was very interesting as Henry is an engaging person. This is definitely a must stop on Route 66

Fell across this place by accident while driving Route 66 from Springfield IL to St Louis. No words could describe it! An old gas station with rusted pumps all around, surrounded by dozens of Volkswagen Rabbits in various states of dilapidation. You enter the old gas station to find about a dozen rabbits - the live kind - amid the Route 66 memorabilia. The owner, Rich Henry, is talkative and interesting - and despite what one might expect in such surroundings, is quite intelligent...just a little eccentric. If you get anywhere near Staunton, IL, you need to visit!

Recently took a rt 66 road trip with my Mother, Sister and Aunt. My Mom had the stops planned out and I did the driving. I wasn't that thrilled about going to see rabbits but I was humoring my Mother. As I pulled in I yelled in excitement when I realized the rabbits meant Volkswagen!! I own one myself. I absolutely loved this stop. I have actually met the iconic owner(Bob Waldmire) of the station wagon outside so of course I got a picture next to it. The owner Henry was great and very friendly. He and my Mom exchanged memories of Bob Waldmire and I enjoyed hearing his. Would love to bring my husband back someday, he too loves Volkswagen's.

It’s quite a ramshackle set up, but that’s what makes it interesting. Outside photos were restricted by the weather, although we did manage to have a picture taken on the back of a large fibreglass rabbit (it’s a parody of the Jack Rabbit Trading post which we would visit later in our trip). We went into the shop which wasn’t really a shop, more a cross between a pet shop and a museum (most things had a “not for sale” sign on). The middle of the shop was crammed with giant rabbits in cages (they normally “play out” but it was raining heavily). The owner was very friendly and was happy to chat with us, a really nice chap.One of the more unusual stops on Rt66, but quite fun. Recommend.

Somewhere you must see on your Route 66 trip. This Route 66 information centre / souvenir shop has Henry the owner who is an honest, friendly and knowledgable guy who has a love of rabbits and quirky memorabilia. The shop is set amongst a lot of crazy suff like some old Campbell's Humpin' 66 to Please wagons, a set of cars half buried nose down in the ground, and bits of old rusty cars. In the shop a rabbit sits on the counter and other rabbits sit in cages. Everything is covered in rabbit hair but perhaps that adds to the charm of the place. This is the kind of place that keeps the spirit of Route 66, somewhere to slow down and actually talk and get to know people. Good luck Henry.

Although the title I have allocated is 'Quite Bonkers' I mean this in the nicest possible way! We stumbled upon Henry's quite by accident and even did a U turn to go back and visit; we were not disappointed. I hope Henry doesn't mind me saying that he is a somewhat passionate eccentric, the world needs more passion and eccentricity to add spice and colour to our existence. Henry cares for the rabbits he has rescued and we are fully supportive of the mission he is on, so many rabbits are adopted and then abused with neglect. Please stop and visit and donate to his wonderful cause.

We made a trip to this place at the outset of our Route 66 (which soon became east to west coast) trip. The place looks deserted with a lot of ‘junk’ outside and some rabbit hutches. The ‘shed’ had an open sign so I tried the door and was warmly greeted by Henry the owner. The shed is full of Route 66 typical modern souvenirs and some memorabilia and a couple more rabbits.Henry was a really nice guy obviously mad about Route 66 and his rabbits – not sure which he prefers. He mentioned a couple of ‘must stay’ motels for our Route 66 trip which we had already booked (these are reviewed separately and to be honest, having stayed there I would not recommend as ‘must dos’). I get the feeling that there is a sort of cartel of individuals who recommend each other (some of these have never met up by the way).Would I recommend? Possibly but bear in mind it is what it is – not a lot. It was a quirky place and Henry as said was a nice guy to talk to. At the start of a Route 66 trip, it was an ok stop and didn’t take us too far off a route. However, there were times later on in our trip when we did say – ‘why on earth did we go there?’

We stopped by Henry's Rabbit Ranch on our Route 66 journey. I have to say that Henry is one of the nicest people that we have ever met. We spent about an hour talking to him about various things and also his rabbits. If you are on Route 66, you have to make it a point to stop here. He has a row of Volkwagen Rabbits buried in the ground like at the Cadillac Ranch. He also has a few original Campbell 66 Express trailers from back in the day. What an interesting place to stop and spend some time.

Not sure what hours re or if it is still opened but you can take a look but looked stranded to me. No bunnies! :( there are old signs, gas pumps and memorabilia to see.

Lungo la Route 66 si trovano molti posti "strani" ma questo li batte quasi tutti! Appena entri ti ritrovi tra milioni di vecchi souvenir e chincaglierie di svariato genere, ma la cosa veramente particolare che il signore che abita questo ranch si è circondato da decine di coniglie uno più bello dell'altro.

Tappa obbligata lungo il viaggio sulla ruote 66. Questo signore vive per e con i suoi conigli. Troverete davvero di tutto nel suo negozietto, compriamo un piccolo souvenirs e ci regala dei fiammiferi con coniglietti disegnati. Una carezza al coniglio rosso, una visita alle tombe dei suoi piccoli amici e si riparte per questo viaggio tra realtà e fantasia

un luogo incredibile... entri e d henry immediatamente ti rimprovera di aver lasciato la porta aperta, che i conigli hanno freddo.... ?? e infatti all'interno, in mezzo a milioni di chincaglierie , vecchi reperti e souvenir ci sono grandi gabbie con grandissimi conigli spaparanzati... fuori, accanto all'edificio, le lapidi una accanto all'altra di tutti i conigli allevati o recuperati , salvati e curati, con relativo epitaffio.... un posto davvero curioso, molto fuori dal nostro mondo.... assolutamente da non perdere
