I adopted my mom's dog 1 1/2 years ago. I needed to take him to the vet for his yearly exam. My friends suggested I go to Hartland. Everyone in the office was so helpful. Explaining everything I needed and what to do when I get home. The girls in the front office even helped me with a rebate that was available for some heart worm meds.Debra R. Holder

This trip was so much fun! We drove 4 1/2 hours, stayed at the Best Western, ate at some fabulous restaurants (BBQ King, la petite Creperie) visited some cute stores (on the square), watched the prognostication (which was a hoot for all those who liked the movie) and then got to see the movie free at this recently updated theater (prices for food were the best I have seen!). We also stopped by the bowling alley (were told we could bowl after 1) and the Bed and Breakfast. We did not do the walking tour since it was so very cold but had orginally been on our agenda.

If you like the movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray then Woodstock IL is the place for you. The movie was filmed in Woodstock and they go all out every year to celebrate. We've now been twice. The first year, 2013, we just went for the day. This year, 2014, we went with a group of friends and spent the night. The prognostication by the groundhog is the main event, taking place on Groundhog day at 7:00 a.m. but we also went to a free screening of the movie in the newly refurbished movie theatre, did a walking tour which was really interesting, chili cook off, breakfast at the VFW etc. Woodstock itself is a charming town with a beauitful town square, lots of cute shops and restaurants surrounding the square and very nice people. Definitely worth a visit even if it isn't Groundhog Day!

Groundhog day filmed here. Is nice, if you are walking in the square. VFW is nice place to go to (drink and food) although I have not been there in years. Has big water park. Other than that, a normal small town.

When we stumbled upon this store in the cute little town of Woodstock, it seemed like a little magical world tucked into the pleasant little Woodstock square. It's surprisingly large inside, and there seemed to be something cool for everyone in our group to look at. We were two couples, so two guys and two girls. There were cool decorations, weird flavor combinations in their foods, food and candy samples, an old fashioned candy counter as well as a fancy candy counter, and a coffee counter. They may have had ice cream too, but I cannot remember. It was a really nice place to step into and it felt like a different dimension. You should stop in if you get the chance!
