Home field for the NCAA Div 1 Stetson University and DeLand High School baseball teams is picturesque and easily accessible from downtown DeLand. Hometown support of the 'Hatters' is immediately noticeable and even more evident during the 7th inning 'stretch' when the Bleacher Creatures lead the crowd in 'Take me out to the ballgame.' The concession stand offers a predictable assortment of (somewhat pricey) snacks, but the parking is free and price of admission quite modest by today's sports standards. Stetson hosts approximately 3dozen games during the Feb-May season with opponents from Big 10, SEC, ACC, etc. in addition to their in-conference (Atlantic Sun) rivals. Fun evening, if it's not too chilly, and even more fun on a sunny afternoon.

Even in the middle of the fall with no game in sight, it is clear the Deland is blessed with a great venue for baseball. Melching is the home of the Stetson Hatters and Deland Bulldogs as well as a variety of other teams involved in tournament play. The seats are comfortable, the stands built for good visibility of the field, and the concession stands appear to be ready for feed hungry fans. This is one of the attractions that makes Deland a great tourist spot. The only thing missing is a plan to come back in the spring to enjoy baseball -- something that is already in the works.

Little DeLand has a first class ball park with tons of other amenties around it. Check it out. One of the reasons DeLand was name the best little town of Central Florida.

My husbands I loved going and watching college ball and Melching Field is a great ballpark. We were a little disappointed this past season in the fact that they raised there ticket prices and eliminated the senior discount.

When we were visiting Deland we thought we had to go a game of baseball. The local University team, Stetson Hatters were playing and we came and watched and cheered and marvelled at the melt down of the pitchers on both teams as 5+ pitchers got their marching orders. A lot of fun.

We happened on this stadium while visiting Stetson University. The Florida Sun League was playing and the venue was perfect. Vendors were very friendly and the game was the perfect way to end the day. If you get a chance -- don't miss it!

It is old but we like it! The team is really good and the students love to come out and cheer them on. They have really good key lime pie on a stick. They also have chocolate covered bananas. Yum Yum Go Get You some!
