Here's a peaceful place not far off the "beaten path". There are all kinds of bonsai and countless other fabulous things such as plants/shrubs/trees to view. There is a gift shop, and there are also 4 cats that roam the sanctuary freely, "socializing" with the visitors. The entry fee is very reasonable.

Enjoyed the bonsai collection, but not the rest of the gardens. Certain parts were not kept up. Peaceful.

Its perfect for families with young kids, small enough for them to enjoy and not get tired. Japanese garden was very good.Bonsai collections were excellent.would like to see more vegetable and herb gardens.

Heathcote does a Poineer day from time to time so we decided to bring a bunch of Girl Scouts. All the volunteers were helpful, patient and informative. Washing clothes by hand and churning butter seemed to be two of the favorites. The grounds have several spots to rest quite serenely and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Most of the gardens have signs to let you know what you are looking at just in case you wondered what kind of tree was growing in your neighborhood.

Lots of plants for sale, and a few cats not for sale.It cost $12., a very good tropical garden. A sign said Tai Chi classes. Among the flora & fauna are different sections. James Smith Bonsai Gallery is largest public tropical bonsai display. A lone banana tree, palms, cycads; a butterfly section. A very good value.

There's a banana tree, lots of Bonsai trees in the 40 y/o age in the Japanese garden. Shade to sit and relax. Lots of folk art around in the home made figurines made of used tools. $2.00 plants to buy and take home. Lots and lots of weird plants. $12 admission, get a coupon before coming

This was an average garden. There were different sections including the bonsai section, a butterfly garden (No butterflies) and the tropical plants. We walked through the entire area in less than 30 minutes. It was beautifully decorated in the bonsai area, but as you go further to the west side of the garden, it did not look as appealing and some areas where dirt was piled up and waiting to be removed. Sometimes we wondered if we were in the right area on the map as there were no signs posted. At the time we were there, there were no flowers, no butterflies and tons of mosquitoes, especially by the hut and children area. All in all, it was not bad but not one of the best by comparison to a garden closer to my home, the Morikami Museum in Boca Raton. The entrance fee is cheap but you get what you pay for. One thing I definitely liked were the cats who were hanging around the shop and the gardens.

Beautiful gardens, organized according to climates and regions - rainforest, Japanese, Butterflies and more. The Bonsai collection is particularly impressive, and don't miss the small reflection garden with its artistic pond. All in all we enjoyed our visit and loved the place. The only problem were the stubborn mosquitos that kept biting us even after we put on loads of repellent.

Amazing. I have never seen such wonderful Bonsai plants or breathtaking flowers. The reflection pool was stunning. My wife and I truly enjoyed everything about this place. The Japanese garden, palm trees, pioneer house and all the rest was fantastic.
