The park was great...loved the variety of birds. Only negative was the bathrooms in the building entrance. Need to be updated and locks fixed, etc.

This is the 2nd time I've been to Homosassa Wildlife Park and I'm still in awe. There are several manatees in this park, where it has become a sanctuary for them. There are wild manatees in the area, but aren't part of the park. They have a vast selection of birds, including flamingo, who do a wonderfful dance and sing, in their own way. It's very uplifting and fun to what them. The alligators are in abundance and simply laze away the day. Take the river cruise, the tour guide is very knowledgeable of the Park. It's a great place to take your friends, who are visiting the South.

Nice little wildlife rehab park. Not a zoo, but native animals to Florida, except for Lu the hippo, who is a citizen of Florida due to a governors proclamation. Knowledgable staff and informative programs. Take the short boat ride back, and maybe see a gator, or other wildlife. If you want to skip that, you can drive back to the entrance. Props to the lady at the pretzel stand that recommended a local beach after our visit. Perfect end to a relaxing day.

Wander through the pathways to see many florida species in one spot. Take the boat to the park and the tram on the return. The kids will love the gators, the manatees, the flamingos, the panthers and the fish. Make sure you see the fish from the underwater observatory. Bring a picnic!!!!

This small zoo deserves a solid 4 stars in my book, for the fairly naturalistic open-air enclosures and the commendable focus on species indigenous to Florida. Tourists shouldn't miss the opportunity to see here some highly endangered species you're never likely to encounter in the wild like the whooping crane and red wolf. I think the zoo's rescue mission for injured or orphaned wildlife merits that fifth star, and it's nice to know your modest entry fee is going to a good cause.@Bondoon2: Although foxes have a feline grace, they do indeed belong to the dog family along with the wolves as you correctly suspected.

get a coupon for a discount at ur hotel or the visitors center just outside the entrance. Really excellent captive wildlife park, most of the animals are damaged and can't survive outside. Lots of birds , fish and manatees at the spring. A hippo, reptiles, cats and a few wolves and fox (or are they in the cat family? Hmm.) the underwater platform showed just lots of fish rather than any manatees and that's ok. Just wait outside until you hear the kiddy din die down or be deafened by the excitement of children in this small echoing place. Good for a couple hours. Cost us a little more than $10 per person with a coupon from the hotel.

This trip was so worth it! First thing you do is enter the Visit Center to purchase a ticket (money goes directly to fund Florida State Parks) and you choose if you want to ride a pontoon boat or take an open air tram to the park. This is not Disney, this is the Real Florida) The first thing I saw were the manatees. Such gentle creatures. Make sure you go in the floating underwater observatory to see more manatees and lots and lots of fish. The park has great paved trails and boardwalks to see manatees, black bear, bobcats, key deer, alligators, gray fox, flamingos, eagles and much more. Perfect for taking pictures. I could go on and on but you really need to see it for yourself. Go early as the park gets crowded. You can get all of the information from their website. They get a big thumbs up from me.

This is an intriguing back to nature wildlife exhibit. With one large exception all the animals are native Floridian. Displayed in large comfortable appearing confinement areas along pleasant walks through the forest. There are two ways to get there -- drive directly to the Park and leave your car across the road, or access from highway 19 and be ferried by pontoon boat through a 20 minute waterway to the park. Would definitely recommend the waterway.

Unexpected surprise! We loved it. These people are doing an amazing job with all the refugees. A must see for birders and nature lovers and photographers! A must see!

this place is wonderful. It's only $13 a person and you ride on a pontoon boat to the main park and it is a lot of fun. The staff and volunteers make your day. And get the ice cream - it's wonderful. And the animals and birds are beautiful. It is a rescue park, they take in injured animals and their hearts are in the right place. The boat rides alone made us happy.

The Wildlife Park is a wonderful place to spend a few hours. The park is beautiful and has many native Florida animals and exhibits. The entire family would enjoy strolling through the park. We are winter snowbirds in the Homosassa area and go to the Wildlife Park several times each winter, and always take visitors over to show them what a gem we have right here.

What a great park! Nice selection of Florida animals. Clean and beautiful to walk around. The weather was cold so there were a lot of manatees naturally up in the river/spring. Also a lot of fish. They have an underwater fish bowl where you can go "under the water". It is such a cool perspective on the wildlife. If you enter off of 19 there is boat/tram over the park. It's a nice ride. The Florida animals were great and Lou the hippo was cool! Defaintly a must stop if you are in the area. Child and adults a like would enjoy.

What can I say?!? Homosassa Wildlife Park was the highlight of my recent trip to Florida! In search of manatees, the park did not disappoint. Upon arriving, I was a bit skeptical of the entrance price, but once on one of the observation decks within the park and seeing over 40+ manatees surfacing and sun bathing-I knew I had made the right choice! The park was a great place to see other animals too, but the manatees were by far the most special part of the day for me. The park itself was very clean and there was a lot to see and do. This is a great place to see manatees in their natural habitat.

Zoo like environment for injured animals. Volunteers/employees so nice and anxious to share about the animals - lots of fun stories. The submerged fish viewing center very fun but small. The resident manatees are in a cement enclosure just to eat then out in a large enclosure on the river - there are also wild manatees they have a large roped off area where they can't be bothered by people and the boardwalk runs along it - a good place to view manatees without 50 snorkelers bothering them. Nice place, nice people - take the boat ride - the boat driver is a hoot

Homosassa Wildlife Park made me so happy! Lots of animals, well cared for. Best of all, so many varieties of birds! I am a photographer and I just went mad here! You can photograph the animals without barriers of glass or fence, most of the time. We walked everywhere, which is what we wanted to do. Tram and boat are available. You can spend at least 3 hours here seeing everything. Staff are very helpful and snack bar is OK. Gift shop seems huge. We were amazed by the the underwater aquarium. Manatees here too of course. And a birding path thru the forest.
