I've been fascinated by the mansion since I moved to the area in 1990. There was a picture of it on the cover of the phone book. It's abandoned now. I ride by all the time just to see if there is any activity with the house. It is slowly being dismantled by nature and needs a lot of TLC. I've never been in the mansion or even on the grounds. Would LOVE to one day. For now I just take pictures from the wall. Get a lot of local stares just doing that. I'm planning on buying the place after I win the lotto........

A 20 room mansion built in 1925 - designed by a female architect, Katherine Cotheal Budd. The mansion sits in the middle of the acreage reminding one of a mysterious lady who you can tell is past her prime, but boy does she have stories to tell. It is fascinating to look at and imagine the lifestyle of the "rich and famous" people that visited. It is worth a side trip if you are visiting Orlando (a 35 minute drive). Situated not far from Lake Harris and across the street from the Mission Inn Resort & Club (a full-service spa, a golf course, tennis and an outdoor pool). Great road trip for motorcyclists and bike cyclists.

I live down the street from this estate. It is a mystery that I love to pass by. It is currently for sale and you can not enter the fence. You can only view it from the perimeter. I wish someone would buy it and turn it into a bed and breakfast.

Unfortunately, the Howey Estate has fallen into disrepair because the owner is no longer there and the estate is possibly in foreclosure. Too bad because it was a lovely place at one time. Maybe someone will purchase it and bring it back to its former beauty.

I was lucky to meet Zona and have at our of this beautiful property. I hope one day it's turned into a B & B or museum.
