It functions as it's suppose to, what more can I say? Lots of ship spotting and boat traffic, if you like that sort of thing. Sea birds and beautiful waters. Neat weather patterns some times. If you are visiting Singer Island, yes, walk all the way south on the beach and observe the activities at Lake Worth Inlet.

It was great to rent paddle boards and snorkeling gear and swim all around peanut island. Great to find a secluded area to rest and fell like your on your own island

This is where divers and snorkelers learn! Be sure to bring a dive flag to avoid a fine from the Sherriff! View the amazing fish near the old bridge (pier) during high tide.

For boaters it's a great inlet. Wide deep and rarely has weird wave patters that cause difficulties in getting your boat to go where you want. For snorkelers I strongly recommend that you NOT go snorkeling in the inlet because of the heavy boat traffic. Boats don't have brakes. They have to keep moving at a certain minimum speed to steer at all, and lastly wind and wave can force boats to take a line that the operator doesn't intend. There are plenty of other places to snorkel that aren't the equivalent of playing in rush hour expressway traffic.

Fun to watch fishermen at the point. Lots of people watching going on while looking out at the Atlantic. Pretty cool when the cruise ship, gambling boat goes out to sea or comes back in

If you're staying on the beach side of Singer Island, you can stroll through the surf down the beach to the inlet. At the Marriott there is a paved walk following the inlet from the Atlantic back to Lake Worth. The walkway is nice and there is a shelter with benches midway to the Lake. Amazing just across the inlet are the mansions of West Palm Beach. There is a paved walkway running down the center of the island that extends from the inlet to the shopping center. Sailfish Marina is about halfway down. The shop sells fish food to feed the masses of fish waiting at the dock for the well trained tourists to come, feed them, and view the feeding frenzy. The Marina has a view of the Lake and Peanut Island.

You can walk a short distance and be right at the mouth of the inlet as it goes into the ocean. The old pump house is still there... many have spent time there jumping into the ocean. You can watch the boats and see Peanut Island.

Peanut Island has decent snorkling, fun swimming locations and a very "Islands" ambiance. Definitely worth a $10/person ferry ride from the Sailfish Marina. Good place to burn a morning or afternoon on.

For the stronger swimmer and experienced ! When the tide is close to high and INCOMMING you can have a very nice drift BUT you must use a dive flag and stay at the rip rap (large rocks) along the north edge. It is also fun to explore the underwater tip of the north jetty- you might see Big fish!DO NOT GO IF TIDE IS GOING OUT...and Never go alone - plan the dive and dive the plan !!

Fishermen, sailors and commercial shippers and cruise ships use this excellent inlet. The draft is adequate, bouys and navigational aids are good. Rare waves at the outer entrance easily managed. Traffic easy. No significant shoals so that access from outside is secure. Radio checkin for customs

Decided to take the 90-minute boat tour of Lake Worth and Palm Beach Island after spending a few hours at Sailfish Marina watching the fishing boats come and go. The boat is fairly small (maybe accomodates up to 20?), so it is easy to see attractions on both sides. It is a narrated tour with the operator pointing out the lovely homes of the rich and famous (or infamous, as the case may be), and then crosses over to West Palm Beach for a ride past the mega-yachts that are in for some rehab work before heading back out to sea. The last leg is a quick trip back across the lake past Pigeon Island, which also looks like a nice place to spend a few hours but is only accessible by boat. A nice way to spend a few hours on the water in a very calm harbor. You are allowed to take food/beverages on the boat. There are no bathroom facilities on board.

We took a 90 minute narrated boat tour of Lake Worth and Palm Beach Harbor. Great view of homes that line the shore. Tour started at the Sailfish Marina Palm Beach Shores.

This is the closest inlet on the East Coast to the gulfstream. Great fishing and its not a nightmare to get in and out of like Boynton or Jupiter Inlets.
