We just bought a bag of clams for $20 to bring home on our way out of C.K. These are the best clams we have ever eaten! Very big, juicy and sweet. We have also had shrimp from Southern Cross and the taste was like no shrimp we have ever had also! Fresh, sweet and never "fishy". Parking is a little tricky, but it is worth the effort. You will walk into a big warehouse type building, and a fisherman will come and ask you what you would like. Very cool.

A huge bag of small clams is $15, a huge bag of medium is $18 and a huge bag of clams is $20. They have fresh everything....Stone Crabs and Grouper. Take a cooler and take any and all home. I always do.

Located on Rte 24 the Southern Cross is a seafood market which also raises clams and has tours on Wednesdays. The clams are very inexpensive, we always buy a bunch and take back to our cabin to steam and then make linguini and clam sauce. The worker told us to put some salt in water and let the clams sit in them for a while to get the sand out before cooking and it really worked. There is no charge for the tour and very interesting. Also good fish dip and all other kinds of seafood to take back to your room and cook.

Great service. Hard working clam crew. Resonable prices and certainly fresh. Plan a trip to Cedar Key just for the clams.

The free tours are given on Wednesday at 1:00pm. It was quite illuminating to learn how much effort goes into growing those delicious bivalves. I'd suggest anyone with kids stopping in and gathering info for an extra credit report. We did stop by on our way out of town on Thursday to buy a big bag of clams and a bag of stone crab claws. The clams have all been eaten now, but the claws rest comfortably in the freezer awaiting us to declare a special occasion for cooking them.

The clams and oysters are the best ever! We did not take the tour but did watch a Youtube video about Southern Cross Sea Farms. It is an amazing operation that produces out of this world clams. The people who work here are so nice. We stopped by to buy clams to take home and asked if they had oysters. They didn't, but they called another location in town and told us to come back in an hour and they'd have a bushel. We did and they were fantastic. The whole concept of the clamming aquaculture is positive in every way... for the environment, the community and the consumer. The shellfish were so clean and smelled sea fresh. I will definitely be calling them to ship when I get home. It was a great value too.

The clams were delicious and a great deal! As far as the tours go, you need to call ahead and make an appointment. We did not know that and therefore did not experience it. The place seemed pretty cool, they even had an octopus in their tank!

We decided to pick up some clams and scallops this morning. The guy at the retail market was super knowledgeable and helped us pick out what we wanted. I went for the middleneck clams. The fridge had1 bag in it. When the guy picked the bag up he decided to give us a newer bag because he wanted us to have the freshest. Apparently one was open. That is good quality customer service! 100 middle sized clams for 18 bucks, and 1.5 lbs of scallops american grown for 25. A steal. Will be back!

My children (10, 12, 16) and I loved the tour given by one of the owners (I believe Shawn?). We learned so much about clams and the whole process of farming them. It was very educational and the guide was not only informative, but very patient as we each plied him with many questions. My son spent the rest of the day doing math inspired by numbers quoted during the tour. We all went away talking about how passionate our guide was about clams, and we all caught some of that excitement. I've never even eaten clams, but the whole family is agreed that when I get brave enough to try to make some, they should come from Southern Cross.

Stoped here to get some clams to steam at our vacation rental at Park Place. Clams were an excellent value. We also left with oysters to shuck and shrimp to steam. The establishment was very clean and gives tours of the operation. Recommend buying your seafood here if your vacation rental has cooking facilities.

Just stopped in to check out the clams and was met by a very hospitable employee who was eager to answer any questions about the operation and even took the time to give a mini tour with a fairly detailed explanation of the clam farming operation. A truly enjoyable and informative stop. Would have loved to have done the full tour that was offered at 1:00 each day Mon- Sat. A real little gem.... Stopped in the next morning to purchase some clams to take to relatives and were met by a young female employee that was just as friendly.. Thanks to the folks at Southern Cross
