Brattleboro has a new brewery. Run by two entrepreneurs who appreciate all that Vermont has to offer and use such ingredients as cider and pumpkin in the 7 beers currently offered. The atmosphere is very rustic but also very homey. There is absolutely no food according to their license, but you can not only buy growlers in various sizes but enjoy tastings at $2 a glass or flights of 4 or 8. I am not a beer drinker but have gone a few times with friends who were really impressed with the variety and complexity of tastes. The names are also pretty creative. My favorite being "Dark at 4:30". My only suggestion to the two super friendly owners would be to get a little more seating that is a little more comfortable. We usually end up standing because the bar stools are tippy and kind of hard. It is the new place in town so people do want to hang out. I also would love it if they could figure out a way to serve something simple such as cheese or nuts. Anyway, this is a wonderful new spot and definitely worth a visit.

This place is really comparable to some of the beautiful, intimate breweries I've visited in Portland and Asheville and has a great selection. The atmosphere is very softly lit and cozy. The raw wood bars and displays are illuminated by vintage-looking lanterns on the ceiling. There are a few chairs and also ample room to stand up and sip. As far as customer service, we've met three of the people who own/run the brewery and they were very nice and helpful on our visits. As far as the selection of beers, they had seven on tap the last time I went. These include Brattlebeer, Brooks Brown Ale, High Street VT IPA, Tardy Harvest Ale, Holiday Rye, Supa Phunk, and Hoppy Smalls. My favorite is the Supa Phunk right now. You can taste any single beer for $2 or try a flight of four for $6. Also, you can take beer to go in either 32 or 64 ounce growlers ($10-$12). They are starting a CSB (like a CSA but with Beer!) and it seems like a good deal. I will definitely return and am already recommending the place to friends.
