Hacketts in South Hero is an excellent way to spend a September morning. The orchard offers a wide range of apples and a tractor ride out to the orchard. Dogs are okay as long as they are leashed. It is $18 for a bushel and you can mix and match the apples as you go along. They provide ladders that are easy to move and easy to use for picking higher up in the trees. There is lots of parking if you drive down their driveway. There is also a fun kids playground, hamburger stand and some of the best apple crisp around. They do also have pumpkins (although I didn't see a proverbial pumpkin patch for PYO pumpkins).
