We tried something different then our usual Okema and Killington and drove an extra one hour north to stay at Best Western Waterbury and skied at Sugarbush. What a wonderful place especially if your interested in wooded trails like my twin 12 year old snowboarders were. The black diamonds were mostly moguls and I did get messed up falling almost 15 times but no pain no gain!! Mount Ellen lift was quick and worth it when you wanted to go over to a less crowded area. The workers were very nice and food reasonable. I would like to try to go again over Easter so I hope the snow does not melt!!! especially in the wooded trails . my 44 year old quads were burning after 3 days chasing my adventurous boys.... definitely worth it!! good blues too!!

We skied here for 4 days in March. Lots of terrain to choose from with both Lincoln Peak and Mount Ellen being connected by a chairlift. Nice groomers and tons of great mogul runs. Snow was great this year.

I am 68 years old and not in the best shape, but I want to be able to ski with my husband. I was terrified! I decided that this one day at Sugarbush would make or break my ski future. I had tried other areas and was still scared. My son-in-law suggested Sugarbush; he thought it was the perfect place for me. (BTW: he himself skis there and he's an expert, both with skis and boards so there are plenty of trails available.) I was not disappointed. I was approached by an ambassador of the area named Mark. (must have seen the glazed over look in my eyes). He put me at ease and sent me to the ski school. Allie, the ticket girl was not condescending at all when I told her my story. She turned me over to Jerry. I spent the afternoon with him, and guess what? I am now a comfortable beginner, no longer a terrified novice. I'll go back again and again. I see that some other reviews call this place "pricy." I think I got a great value for my money. If you are a "wanna be" but still scared, go to Sugarbush and ask for Jerry. Tell him I sent you: he will remember me.

Sugarbush comprises two very different mountains with differing terrain - Lincoln Peak and Mount Ellen - linked by a regular bus or the chairlift. Good facilities in terms of rentals, food options and teaching. Friendly staff.

Nice mountain but way too expensive for what it is. The lifts are aging and not fast enough so funnily enough you see more people on the lifts than skiing down the slopes... Bar and self service overcrowded and expensive... Timbers restaurant has below average food and overpriced...

Went to Sugarbush mountain today. Got the 49$ 12 30 half day mount ellen only ski pass ...like any sking the conditioms were good so the sking was good ...the only thing about mount ellen all the black diamond runs are wall to wall bump runs... everthing else is wide blue and greens ..some good steeps but got bored with every trial same thing and the lifts are slow ...not the high speed ones found at similar price point for lift ticket......all in all nice change of pace but I wont go out of my way to go back ......theres faster lifts and better terrain for the same price......ar tje same time im glad I went

Everyone who works there is so helpful. Well groomed trails for all levels. Great glades. We love Mt. Ellen.

We came (2 couples to Sugarbush for the weekend of Feb 27- March 2nd). We stayed in 1 of the ski in/ski out condos off the "Out to Lunch" trail. Skied all day Sat/Sun. This was our 1st time here and 1st time in VT mountains. Sugarbush was awesome! Weather/Snow conditions were awesome and the crowds were easily handled by all the trails and lifts. There are trails for every ability. The girls took classes both days and loved their instructor, who was very patient and knowledgeable. Being mostly Blue/some Diamond runs skier myself, I absolutely loved Jester and Rim Run on Mount St, Ellen or coming down fast through Sunrise into Hot Shot and then straight down into Waterfall. I wish there was a bit more nightlife in the village itself, but everything else (including our condo on Mountainside Dr) was just awesome. Definitely recommend for everyone.

This was my first time at Sugarbush, but I'll be back. We ski a lot of the VT mountains, but Sugarbush was better than the rest. The conditions were awesome and the crowds were easily handled by all the trails and lifts. There are trails for every ability. Our group likes the long cruisers with no moguls but enough pitch to get some speed. We found plenty of them all over the mountains(s).

Whether you are looking for a day of skiing or staying for the week, Sugarbush is a beautiful ski mountain with lots to do with the whole family. It us a great stay regardless of the season!

I hadn't skied Sugarbush for 20 years or so and had forgotten how wonderful it was. There are four mountains, each with a distinct character of its own. I did not ski Castlerock, but the others are just great. I didn't luck into a fresh powder day, but the groomers were nice, and the mild mogul runs I did were fun. I think you'll enjoy Sugarbush more if you ski blues and blacks. I didn't see much variety for green trail skiers, but to be honest I wasn't looking. The lifts are fast, well placed and had no stoppages. Lift lines moved quickly. Resort staff was very helpful. Food on the mountain was above average. It's not a cheap place to ski, but you'll get your money's worth. The views from the top of Lincoln Peak and Mt. Ellen are unsurpassed.

I can't say enough about the skiing experience in Sugarbush. The slopes were great, employees, locals, and visitors friendly. If you want to get away from it all and love to ski, this is a great choice. It is very rugged and rural - no major town for a long ways. It felt great to be away from it all. We only stayed 4 days. The condo was nice and spacious at Club Sugarbush. Basically, near everything you need to get to and on the shuttle run if needed.A few good spots to eat in the area but I would plan on having an ample supply of meals at the place you stay if you visit for longer than 3 or 4 days.

big enough mountain, great ski on ski off. plenty of restaurants close by and enough on the mountain. homey, friendly

Mt Ellen is the place to ski at Sugarbush. The slopes during the week are groomed and quite empty, giving you maximum freedom to enjoy the slopes at your pace and leisure. you cannot ask for better conditions at more reasonable prices. Especially on Thursdays. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

My friend and I skied for the first time this weekend! The instructors at Sugarbush were great. The class was 6 people, and then divided half way through to three and three - each with an instructor. Was great for those that were picking it up faster, and for those that were a little slower. Fellow skiers were perfectly respectful of the learning areas and ski lift operators were great for newbies, too. We knew better than to head to the "real" ski lift and trails on our first day - next year, though, for sure!!!!! Food and drinks at the lodge were great, and staff was amazing. Definitely felt welcome the whole time we were there. Renting gear was a breeze, and the staff even pushed us through to make sure we were on time for our lesson. Everything inside was clean and seemed well-organized - even on a Saturday of a holiday weekend (granted - the day before and the day after were below 0, and not sure how crowded it normally is, but it was definitely busy, but easy to maneuver everywhere). We were told the small lift is accessible even without a ski lift ticket and we took advantage on the second day to make sure we remembered what we'd learned on day one. Still fun, even at -20 degree windchill!
