We had just a part of a day to see Woodside as we drove through. Therefore, we made reservations with Julia Purdy, with the Historical Society who gave us a brief historical walking tour through the town and was kind enough to suggest that we make reservations ahead of time for the Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller mansion tour, which would have not known about. It was a hidden gem. She also recommended a place for lunch where we able to picnic, with her along the river. Wish we had a little more time to spend as we missed the Calvin Coolidge a Village. Julia is a wealth of knowledge and a lovely person.

Thinking that this is the Woodstock where the concerts were held, the one in NY is the real one. Anyway, during our visit to all NE states, we stayed overnight in this nice little town. Town is somewhat dead, but a nice quiet town to spend a night, rest and do nothing.

If you are lucky enough to be in Woodstock with a free evening when there's a lecture here: go! We really love the quality of locsl presenters and topics, as well as the photos of days-gone-by: a true Woodstock treasure.

I wish we spent more time in Woodstock, as I think I would LOVE attending more events here. We were lucky, however, that we were able to attend Spooky Woodstock last October. We started at Dana house where we had hot cider and cookies and joined a walking tour. We learned of several "spooky" stories of residents past on our way to the cemetery. Near certain grave stones, local residents posed as the residents who were buried below them-telling historically accurate stories of the lives and deaths of several noted Vermonters. Our tour continued to the Green where we heard the legend of the vampires who "lived" in Woodstock eons ago. All-in-all, a great night for all ages!

This is a small but delightfully wonderful museum. It has wonderful antiques explaining the history of Vermont. Wondfer gardens behind along the rivers edge with sculptures. Wonderful programs for the public as well. Do check this out. FOR ALL AGES.

My husband and I walked thru this restoration of an 1800s family home belonging to the owner of the town's general store. Towards the end we asked a lot of questions of one of the tour guides, one was exceptionally knowledgeable. She explained that the neighbors in this rural Vermont area had donated many items passed down from ancestors so that these could be shown in the home. We got a real feel for what life must have been like in 1800s rural Vermont. I particularly loved seeing the beautiful clothes that the women sewed for the family. There was no fee, but we made a donation.
