Full disclosure – the foursome that I golf with likes to play golf for the fun of playing golf. We look for nice well-maintained courses but at the same time, we look for affordable courses. We don’t play many of the higher end / highly manicured courses but generally stick with the smaller but still well managed and well maintained courses.St Albans is the 1st course where I ever played 18 holes of golf and it is still one of my top 2 favorite courses in the area. The course is family owned and operated and is very well maintained. It is also a very affordable place to play golf with weekday rates of $15 walking or $25 w/ a cart and weekend rates of $23 walking or $33 w/ a cart. This is a very nice course for walking. The front nine is more open and the back nine has a few more trees but still has fairly open fairways. The 10th hole is one of my favorites - 410 yards downhill from the white tees and across a creek to the green. Number 17 is another favorite – it’s long (535 yards), downhill and fairly open. The bunkers could use some attention – we generally take a free drop out of the sand traps.St Albans has a comfortable club house with typical golf course fare – hot dogs, chips, pop, beer, etc.Course Rating/Slope/Length (yards)• Blue 71.6/112/6,707• White 68.8/112/6,665• Red 71.1/112/5,212
