Beautiful place to visit.I was visiting a friend that lived in Bellevue which is about 20 minutes from Huron. It has a very nice picnic area right on the Lake.The view is breath taking. Plenty of parking and places to picnic. About 25 to 30 minutes from Sandusky,Ohio Beautiful pier.Would visit again.

Scenic and not crowded. Able to walk out toward lighthouse, but would be difficult to walk all the way because of the rocks.

Me and my family went here and watched the sun set by the water, What a site! It was So relaxing and beautiful out there.

This pier was a nice walk. It was a little windy when we went, but it was a very scenic view.You can see the boats coming and going, and the sea gulls pretty much stayed off the pier.We went to the end of the pier, but not out to the lighthouse as that looked a bit rough with large concrete blocks to walk on with spaces between them. A great scenic photo shoot at the end of the pier.

We enjoyed the walk out to the lighthouse. Take the time to look at all the wild flowers along the way. I almost missed them because I was too busy watching where I was stepping. Half way out path becomes big stones and there are crevices in between. Fun to watch the boats from the end. Lots of birds. Unfortunate smell on one side of the lighthouse when we were there. Hopefully rain clears it away.

Nice easy walk until the last half-mile, when you walk along a seawall. Watch your step! But the views are well worth the walk.

worth a stop, and dont forget nickleplate beach!!! Huron is a great town, lighthouse, shallow beach in cottage community.

Might not be what you have in mind of a lighthouse. The walk to a "deck" is a nice and easy walk. Past there, if you choose you can walk over rocks to get closer to the lighthouse. Not a walk for those unsteady on their feet...seriously. Then if you wish to straddle or crawl over more rocks you can walk around part of the lighthouse base. Nice view of the lake. We saw a Baltimore oriole, ducks, gulls and a heron. Appears to be a favorite fishing spot.

Kidding, this pier has been one of our favorite places to ride bikes, as well as take a hike. and then end up with a great lakeview. Presently they are clearing the area to the west for some beach, I think!

The boat basin and the pier really are a special free place to see the lake with a lovely boardwalk, and a smooth concrete pier. The area is pleasant when it is really hot, and a nice area to watch the sun set.

Active concrete plant next to pier. Very noisy. Pier area is used for spoil disposal by Army Corps of Engineers. Not too attractive. Paved surface of pier is o.k. for walking. Then it ends and you have huge rocks to walk on out to the lighthouse. Easy to twist your ankle on these rocks.

The lighthouse is a great place to hike. The pier stretches for approximately a mile, and on one side you are protected from the elements by land placed there probably for erosion purposes. You can see where the first lighthouse was when you reach halfway, and actually that is a good place to turn around and head back, especially if the waves get choppy. The lighthouse used to have a deep foghorn, which was a great sound to listen to while being a kid tucked into a cozy bed not far away.
