I tried to find this place for over an hour. Got tired of driving around looking for signs that I guess do not exist. My cellphone had no service so I couldnt even use my GPS. If you are going to have a place in the middle of nowhere, my opinion, you should probably have just a little more signage. Just an idea though.

The surroundings are terrific. I did well there and you know what that means when golfing is involved. You will enjoy playing here.

I was married in the fall of 2013. I made my decision to have our wedding at Shaker Run in the late summer of 2012. We wanted to get married over looking the lake then have the reception inside the main ballroom. We also settled on their most expensive option which included an open bar. I was promised certain these things such as:1-discounted meal for those unable to drink. 2-either outside or indoor ceremony depending on the weather.Well a new lady took the position of event coordinator, her name is Sherri Cornell. She seems friendly at first but don't let that fool you. For starters she was impossible to get ahold of. I was freaking out with dozen of emails and phone calls. She informed me the day before my wedding, less than 24 hours, that I would have to decorate my own wedding. Meaning I have to put the centerpieces up, table decorations such as the tea lights and table numbers, my gift table, the place cards, guest book along with any other little decoration I had BECAUSE she simple didn't have the staff. I was paying over 10k and I had to set up my own reception!!!??!!? We had the rehearsal at shaker run a few hours later and I talked yet another manager who ensured us that they will set up everything and not to worry. The day of the wedding come I arrive at 12:00pm for the 4:30pm wedding and the only thing set up are plates and silver wear. I was in shear panic mode! I immediately got the manager on staff which wasn't Sherri Cornell even though she promised to be there at 12:00 and didn't arrive till after 1:00, and he started to set up my wedding. Then once he did all he had time for my brides maids, mother in-law, cousin, and myself set the rest of my reception up. I argued with her but she called me rude and blamed me for having a terrible attitude. I proceeded to breakdown and started crying because of the whole situation. I wouldn't recommend this unprofessional establishment for your important day if my life depended on it. The food is nothing special and over priced. The open bar ran out of items very fast. They also lie about pricing so please don't rent anything through them. I was told flat rates for chair covers and rentals and they charged me with set up fees and delivery fees on everything even table clothes which they are suppose to supply on their own. They are not honest people they just try to cheat you on everything. If you are dealing with Sherri Cornell just don't waste your time or money, please. On and you better believe I have notified everyone I can above her for putting a damper on my wedding day!

WOW...what an experience!!! I made a tee time on golfnow.com for early Sunday morning (8/11/13). I was excited to play a new course in the Greater Dayton area. Get to the Shaker Run community and realized that I left my golf shoes at home...what an idiot!!! I turn around to go back home and hope to not wake the wife and kids (all this around 5:45-6:00am). Get home grab my stuff and headed back. If you do not know where the course is...please give yourself some extra time. The community says Shaker Run Golf Club, but it's actually 1/2 mile to mile further down the road. Drive through community (nice homes) and finally get to the course. Paid for golf and went straight to the tee box. Happy as they gave me a complimentary coupon for breakfast afterwards in the club house. Paired me with two others. Starter shares info on the course layout and the several "cart path only" holes, outside of the par 3's. As he wraps up his spill....I hear him say, be sure you keep up with the guys in front of you. This was after him telling us they play quickly and will be done in two and a half hours....OKAY! Tee off at 6:39 am time...tough to see the ball on first shot. That's fine...I'm golfing and not working! Well let me tell you....EVERY HOLE ON THE FIRST NINE (WOODLANDS), THERE WERE MOWERS AT THE GREEN AND THEY DID NOT STOP WHEN WE WERE READY TO HIT INTO THE GREENS...DID I SAY EVERY HOLE...I MEAN EVERY HOLE ON THE FIRST NINE!!! VERY DISTRACTING AS YOU DON'T WANT TO HIT INTO THEM (NO HELMETS AND IT'S FOGGY). BY HOLE 4, THEY AT LEAST SAID THAT THEY SHOULD BE DONE, BUT THEIR BOSS WOULD BE ALL OVER THEM IF THEY DIDN'T FINISH UP. THEY TOLD US THAT THEY SHOULD BE DONE BEING IN OUR WAY....WELL THEY WEREN'T. THEY WERE DRIVING BY THE TEE BOX AS WE TEE'D OFF AND THEN WERE ON THE GREEN MOWING. NOT FUN!!! I'M BEGINNING TO BELIEVE THAT SHAKER RUN DOESN'T CARE!!!On the back nine...I'm looking for the cart girl....no luck! I should have stopped in the club house instead, but they said keep up again and the back was re-numbered funny. Instead of 1, 2, 3 - 9, it was 7, 8, 9 and then 1, 2, 3 and so-on. If you didn't know...you're now frustrated due to using GPS. Oh well... Get to where we are now on 17 and though I'm happy there were no more mowers, i still have not seen the cart girl. Get to the green on 17 and finally the cart girl is coming up the fairway. She asked if we needed anything and the other two said no, I wasn't due to now being on 17, but I wanted a cup of ice....NOT FOR THE WATER ON THE COURSE AS THERE WERE'NT ANY. NO WATER TO DRINK ANYWHERE. I ASKED FOR A CUP OF ICE AS I HAD A BTL WATER THAT I BROUGHT WITH ME. SHE PRECEEDS TO TELL ME THAT SHE DIDN'T HAVE ANY CUPS ON HER CART. I WAS SOMEWHAT PERPLEXED SO I SAID..."YOU HAVE NO CUPS ON THE CART???", AND SHE SAID NOPE AND DROVE OFF!!! OKAY...I'M GOLFING AND NOT WORKING, BUT I'M FURIOUS AT THIS POINT AND TRULY WISHED I HAD JUST STAYED HOME. FINISHED THE LAST HOLE AND WENT IN. I GET TO THE CLUBHOUSE THINKING OKAY...AT LEAST I CAN GRAB A BITE TO EAT BEFORE HEADING OUT. GO TO THE BAR AREA WHERE FOOD IS AND LOOK INTO THE CHAFERS AND THERE'S NO FOOD...ONLY EGG CRUMBS!!! I HAVE TO WAIT TO ASK THE BARTENDER IF THERE WAS GOING TO BE ANY MORE FOOD. I FIGURED, I GRAB A BITE AND WATCH A LITTLE OF THE PGA CHAMPIONSHIP....OH NO, THAT'S NOT BE TODAY. NO MORE FOOD!!! I ASKED IF MORE WAS COMING AND HE SAID "PROBABLY NOT". I ASKED WHAT TO DO WITH MY COMPLIMENTARY VOUCHER AND HE SAID I COULD GET A HOT DOG. Now this is the same hot dogs that I just witness him take money from one customer...handle the bills, give the change and then grab a bun for the other person in front of me without washing his hands or putting on a protective glove!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! He asked me if I wanted one and I said..."absolutely not", you didn't wash you hands! I asked if I could order off the menu and he told me yes, but the voucher wouldn't be good for it. I now go to the clubhouse and have to say something. The young girl didn't know what was coming and it wasn't her fault. I begin to tell her all the challenges and even said that maybe my expectations were too high coming from Phoenix. I tell her all the challenges and she just says "mmmh hmmm". No empathy, not even sympathy. I mentioned that this not a way to run a course and I see why one of the guys i played with made the comment that it used to be a really nice course, but things have slid in the wrong direction. Boy was that an understatement!!! It's the pits. Weeds throughout your backswing...IN THE FAIRWAYS!!! It's clear that Shaker Run just doesn't care!!!This course has a really nice layout...homes are not in the way at all. It's actually a great lay-out, but the keep up (other than mowing the due off the greens) really stink! The service...well there is no service!!! I actually should have asked for my money back! I wouldn't play this course again even if they gave me a comp round. I'm just hoping that I'm not double charged on my cc as the another course I played in the area charged me all on-line via golfnow.com. But hey....I could have been working right??? Actually I wish I was as this was a crappy start to my morning. I'll probably call them to tell the manager how bad this was, but I'm afraid of being upset even more...because SHAKER RUN HAS PROVEN TO ME THAT THEY JUST DON'T CARE!!!!!

Just played the Shaker Run yesterday, Woodlands 1st, then Meadows 2nd. (A year ago we played Lakeside 1st, then Woodlands 2nd.) This is an enjoyable course to play, and your teebox selection can make it reasonably challenging. We had a 8:39 AM teetime, a twosome, played on a Thursday. There was a rain storm the night before, so we utilized the 90° cart rule. There are some wonderfully scenic and demanding holes, where a Driver off the teebox is not always a prudent choice. The fairways were in excellent shape. The greens also were in excellent shape and ran true. IMHO, I would say that the greens were at a moderate speed. The staff, from the starter to the clubhouse staffer were exceptionally and genuinely friendly, yet efficient. Between nines, the cheeseburger was delicious. We booked through GolfNow.com and paid $35/per player for 18 holes, w/cart (riding). I am an 11 handicapper and play about 40-50 rounds per season.

Shaker Run was left to be run down for several years until last year. New ownership/management has taken over and improvements are everywhere. Their restaurant/ banquet facilities are booming. It has great facilities for these events whether they be a wedding or golf outing. The course has 27 holes and the progress is amazing over a couple years ago. The work on the greens and tees is a continuing project but the improvement is noticible. Shaker will be the place to be very soon.

I've played here many times and always enjoyed it. Until this trip. Hot, dry summer really took its toll on the greens. Virtually unplayable. Many greens had roughly 50% grass coverage. We had to wait on several holes while they applied sand to the greens ahead of us, and without being brushed in, made putting that much worse. Asked for range balls prior to the round and was told that they were out due to an outing????? Anyways I will not be back anytime soon.

played SRGC June 8th and 10th and loved it. great views, great laid out holes and very challenging holes. Kudos to the staff for keeping the course in great shape. Would love to play this course again if I am ever back in the neighbourhood. Wanted to buy a SRGC ball but they did not have any which was disappointing but maybe next time as I like to collect balls from the courses I play in the US. Should of left the girl behind the counter some money to mail me one, oh well. Hopefully one day can make my way back there.

Worth the trip. Great layout and challenging holes as well as convenient to the interstate.

Built in 1979 by a large steel company... no cost spared. At that time had to be in the top 5 in Ohio. Has changed many hands over the years...at times poor condition...built a new 9 that is inferior to the orginal 18. When in good shape you'll be hard pressed to find better. Art Hill design. Now back in the hands of the original superintendent/director of golf who'll get the course back to top notch form. Play it while you can
