Nice trails to walk on. This is where I like to go for my daily walks with my dogs and husband. Lots of nature.

The metro parks have lots of great activities and programs. They are definitely an asset to the community.

This location is the Wellington Reservation of the Lorain County Metro Parks and offers a nice day use building that can be reserved for functions; a reservoir offering free paddle boat rental, fishing, and a small marina for non-gas motorized boats; several paved multi-use loop trails for hiking, jogging, dog walking, biking and wildlife observation and horse trails. Visiting on an early Saturday afternoon in spring, it was fairly quiet with a group using the day use building, a family fishing and only a handful of people on the multipurpose trail; unfortunately, I found the peace to be broken by a surprising amount of road noise in the distance. Although the wrong time of day for the best wildlife viewing, I hiked the loop trails and did not observe much of anything in the way of wildlife or signs of wildlife, not even a ubiquitous Canada goose. It was difficult feeling close to nature on a paved trail with a jogger, biker and dog walkers which certainly would contribute to the lack of wildlife along with the time of day. The predominant species in the reservoir appears to be bluegills based upon the family’s catch. While this would seem to be an okay facility if you live nearby and like a safe jogging/biking/dog walking path or need a nice place to hold a function, I would not bother to make a trip out of the way for this park. I much preferred the nearby Caley Reservation for peace, natural surroundings, wildlife and photography.
