This is a very nice alternative to the Cincinnati Zoo, if you want something smaller, less expensive, and don't mind about an hour drive from Cincinnati. The black leopard is my favorite! They have a nice assortment of beautiful animals that they have rescued, and the staff is very nice. Please support them by visiting or making a donation.

My wife and I took my 2 year old grandson. He had a lot of fun feeding the animals. The admission price was reasonable and I was surprised by the number and variety of the animals. There is also a nice 'reptile house' with many snakes, turtles and lizard varieties. The staff members were very friendly and don't mind questions about the animals. This isn't the 'Columbus Zoo' by any means meaning the facilities are not extreme, but very nice side walks and areas for the animals. As one other review said, you don't have to ride a shuttle bus or walk 1/2 mile to see the animals. Very nice Zoo. Will return again!

took my two toddlers to your zoo today, and I must admit, as my gps took me to what looked like a neighborhood, I grew more and more skeptical. however, do not judge a book by its cover, because I was more than pleasantly surprised!! super friendly staff, adorable, sweet animals. my boys LOVED feeding them, and petting the goats. I loved the ambiance of the zoo, and we didn't have to walk miles to get to the animals, my kids loved it, and I enjoyed it too!! we did a one day admission today, but will be back, and will buy a family pass next time. also, if I am to ever donate to a zoo, my money is here!!! love what you do!!!

Found this gem while traveling through Ohio..this is a small fully licensed zoo and animal sanctuary..they provide a home for unwanted or displaced animals who cannot be returned to their natural habitats. Several exotic animals will be found here, including bear, panther, white Bengal tiger, and an Amur leopard. Compact location, takes about an hour and a half to fully view all the exhibits. Very clean and child friendly..there are several animals that children may safely feed, and the friendly staff offer educational tours to families or groups. Picnic area and a petting zoo rounds out this opportunity. Great place for a day trip.

Throwing this out here-place is not "ran" by volunteers, only the owners that have the appropriate experience.

I visited on 8-25-13, and had a spectacular time. Well worth the drive! Again, like others have said, dont come here expecting a "zoo" that the government funds. This place is a rescue faciliy ran by volunteers in order to take care of rescued animals, that would have otherwise be put down. They do not breed at this facility. The animals here all act well taken care of, and very happy! Niko was my favorite, what a gorgeous boy! The Grizzly bear was having a blast in his pool and playing with two barrels. This facility truely cares about their animals. This is expressed through the interactions with the animals, and how Niko went from sleeping to waking up immediately when he saw his trusted volunteer/friend walk up near his cage. The animals are provided everything that they need-food, water, shelter and activies to keep them engaged. I can honestly say that I enjoyed this facility way more than going to an overcrowded zoo. This place needs donations to keep open---please donate..rather it be food, money, mulch, cages, etc. I know I will. To the staff at Heavens Corner-Keep up your excellent work. We will return!

To negative reveiws....this place is built from scratch and once you talk to the owners you realize they really are doing right.

I visited with my wife today 8-18-13 and we had a great time! We enjoyed the animals for 2 hours and the close interaction was spectacular. The bears would sit at the end of the feed tube and have their paws out waiting. They were very happy to pose for photos in all kinds of silly poses! The goats and ducks would eat out of your hand if you weren't too shy. They certainly were not shy at all! The large tigers were gorgeous. Niko was a very friendly guy and would come right up to pose. Like others have mentioned, this is a RESCUE, not a zoo. They only take in rescue animals that would otherwise be euthanised. They do NOT breed animals at all, what a stupid statement by one poster here. They only accept animals that former owners were too irresponsible to care for, injured animals, or often an owner who passes away and the family did not know what to do. I spoke with the owner for a half hour and the budget for the entire place is 10% of what a normal Zoo like Cincinnati or Columbus spends on just ONE Tiger exhibit. So they stretch their dollars very far and do a whole lot of good with very little money. They are not funded by any federal or state agency, so they rely solely on donations. They are only open 4.5 months out of the year so they barely make it through the winter with no foot traffic coming in. The owners love the animals and you must keep in mind they are there for the animals, not to run a business, so you do have to understand that. That means things are not as "polished" as you would see at a zoo. That is because they don't have 500 employees on the clock working! They rely on volunteers, donations, and their own hard work every single day, 7 days a week. The owner was telling me about a guy losing a tiger in 2 weeks and him taking in the tiger and just how expensive it was to setup a new place for the incoming tiger. The state is on the guy for not being properly licensed, so they will euthanize the tiger if Heavens Corner (or someone else) cannot take it in. The big cats eat alot! They go through 1000lbs of chicken quarters alone every 9-12 days at a cost of $600 every time. This adds up fast and THEY NEED MONEY to survive. If you've ever thought of donating, even just $50, now is the time or gems like this may not be around for long. I will certainly be donating and sharing this with everyone in my office to do so as well. Great place and great people!

this is a nice find to do a day trip to w/ or w/out the kids, this is a wondeful effort being made to give animals a home that have been rescued, they are well cared for, in their natural habitats! The grounds are in a circular pattern, nice wide walks to view and feed the animals, and is very wheel chair accessable! THEY ARE A NON-PROFIT ORG. And use the entrance fees to help run the ssnctuary...they need sponsors and support all year round! So if you like what they are doing, check this place out, and hrlp thrm out! We will be going back soon!

Others are right... this is NOT a typical zoo. Its a rescue and they do a great job with what they have to make sure these animals get the care they need and a place to live. Most of their animals would have been put down if they did not take them. We have a yearly membership which is very reasonably priced and my kids absolutely LOVE going there! They always ask to go there over the big Cincinnati Zoo! They love that they can feed some of the animals. The wallabies are my daughters favorite. We always love that you can see the animals so close up. Most zoos you would never get to see a tiger or bear that close up so it is great for kids to be able to see these animals so close. It is also a very educational place for the kids.... not only can they learn about the animals, they can can learn what a rescue is and how it works. Even though some of the areas are sometimes a bit dirty, I think they do their best with what they have and if it was not for them, these animals would not even be here. We were told that their lemurs came to them from a zoo that was going to shut down and if they did not take them, they would be put down! We love those little funny guys and its sad to think what may have happened. It is also nice knowing that when you pay to go to this zoo, that money is going to a very good cause. The staff are great and will answer any questions you may have! We go many times a year and we love it and will continue to support it!

We went out to Heaven's Corner today for our first visit. We had a great time! We will be back and I recommend it to others. Obviously it isn't as large as a city zoo but they have a good variety of animals, a nice little gift shop, and snack area. I didn't notice any cleanliness or grass issues during our visit as others had mentioned. The restrooms were very clean as well. They sell feed cups you can carry with you and that added to the fun. It was worth the drive for a fun afternoon.

I have been going to Heaven's corner for years and now take my children there several times a year. I am saddened that someone would write such an awful review without correct information. The bear cub was brought to them unexpectantly and they do not breed the animals. Most of the animals are rescued from irresponsible people who get them as babies and abandon/neglect or abuse them. Heaven's Corner has much improved over the last 5 years and truly provides the best care possible that they can. There prices are reasonable and you can donate to different animals, like the bear cub, whose name is BooBoo.

We have been to Heaven's Corner three times. I think one of my children's favorite memories is "racing" with one of the big cats. As the children ran back and forth on the sidewalk outside the cage, the big cat raced after them. Heaven's Corner has a wide variety of animals, and you can get quite close to them. It's not like a zoo, with wide expanses for the animals to roam in; these animals are in cages. I think most of the animals have been rescued either because they are injured or from owners who took on more than they can handle. There are birds, snakes, many types of big cats, kangaroos, and more.If you're in the area, I recommend visiting Heaven's Corner.(The date on this review will say April 2012, but I actually last visited in 2011. I wasn't able to choose that as an option.)

This place is such an amazing home for misplaced and neglected animals! I love how they try to incorporate the natural habitat of the specific animal being housed. We go every year and we donate and try to make sure we do our part. These animals would be put down otherwise. Be advised, it is not a zoo!!! Do not go in if you are expecting that. I am apalled at the bad review that was received. This person obviously doesn't realize what these people are doing, and that the kids get to see and pet a lot of the animals.

I would never have thought that there would be a place so "off the beaten track" that would have as many exotic animals as this place has. I recommend it!
