The ride along the river from Eastwood Park to Riverscape is outstanding! As a female I would advise you to ride in pairs or as a group just to be safe. This is well worth your time!

Great Place in the city to walk along the river, listen to music or enjoy one of the many festivals they have during the year, in the summer it seems like there is something going on every weekend including free concerts,Taste of Dayton and much more. Scenery is great, landscape and all the flowers are beautiful..

Riverscape sits parallel to the Great Miami River. Often you will see people fly fishing. There is a Interactive Fountain for kids to run through, and a snack bar to get a quick lunch or ice cream cone. This is a great spot to cool off on a hot summer day among beautiful landscape, flowering pots, and hanging baskets. There is Saturday morning fitness programs and during the summer there are festivals and music. Its a great place to relax, read a book and just enjoy being outside.

This park is stationed smack dab in the middle of downtown Dayton with the river right next to it. There are lots of festivals that take place at this location, which is perfect because there is a massive stage for performers. There are also tons of activities at Riverscape to include work out sessions that are FREE and other exciting activities. I highly recommend checking this place out, especially when there is a festival or activity taking place.

This was such a welcome addition to add interest to a possibly dying downtown area. Adding whitewater rafting will only help more. Festivals downtown are great

A park will be many different things to many different people. We elect to be in these singularly unique man-made creations for decidedly differing reasons, expectations and needs. For some, a park is a place for recreational activity and entertainment and gazing upon the human scene and parade. For others, it is a place to relax and enjoy the scenery and the company of others. And quite possibly, it is a place for some to reflect on an infinite number of issues and concerns and ponder weighty ideas in the quiet. Why anyone finds themselves in a park would encompass a lifetime of re-telling. That prior reviews of RIVERSCAPE in downtown Dayton are so varied should come as no surprise to any reader.Riverscape is markedly dissimilar from Central Park in the center of Manhattan created by the landscape genius of Frederick Law Omstead towards the end of the 19th Century. Those who have explored this enormous canvas of urban green space, woods, trails and lakes will know that sense of being “in the middle” of something larger. In truth, Central Park is an island within an island. Not exactly an oasis because the humanity which seeks refuge within it also nourishes the city which surrounds it. Dayton’s Riverscape is not an island within the city. It is bounded by paved streets and buildings of brick and mortar and glass, bridges and a river. It is simply not enclosed. To enter Riverscape is also to simultaneously exit it unless one chooses to linger awhile in this narrow park-like corridor along the water’s edge.Paved walkways and varying heights of steps and stairs can be found throughout Riverscape. Concession stands, sculpture, bicycle traffic, police cars and park vehicles populate the park landscape. In some areas, amplified music hovers in the air. In that sense, the city is really never somewhere else. However, an abundance of greenery, foliage and floral gardens work well together at persuading the visitor that one has momentarily escaped the city.The prevalence of rushing, gushing water in the long, rectangular fountain promenades; in the children’s water fountains; in the turbulence of the spillway waterfall; and in the mesmerizing arcs cannonading from giant water aerators momentarily masks the hard texture of contiguous city construction.And of the river? The Great Miami River languishes alongside Riverscape. It is viewable from above in the park proper, from adjacent bridge vantage points and from below on wide, curving, concrete walking “paths”. The river is in no rush to be anywhere. Seen from many perspectives, the panoramic river vista is a source of visual delight that figuratively transports us elsewhere while never fully screening out the presence of the city.Riverscape offers periodic entertainment events throughout the calendar year and resonates at these times with the collective energy and pulse of attendees, music and other attractions. During a quiet summer’s day when the weather surprises us with warmth, occasional breezes and sporadic cloud punctuated skies, there is a different sort of energy afoot. People linger on chairs at a plentiful number of tables, sit on benches and on swing sets -- sometimes inert and sometimes gently rocking back and forth -- or kneel or lay on the emerald green lawn possibly hoping that an hour was possessed of more than sixty minutes.Central Park, Riverscape is not. It is however a transitional abode from the pressing concerns of the day and the movement and sounds of downtown Dayton. It is both an inward and outward focus. One enters and exits Riverscape from many directions simultaneously. Riverscape is a welcome urban retreat enjoyed individually and collectively in so many different ways. It’s an in-between world when one chooses to linger.

The city has spend time and money fixing up this section of downtown. They offer a variety of outdoor activities for the whole family. And offer many types of entertainment. This area is close to the baseball field and I feel very safe in this section of downtown after dark.

I love riverscape, it is a beautiful metro park that has ice skating in the winter, water fountains in spring and summer, the kids love it and are tempted to run in it and get soaking wet!!'Also has landscapes of flowers and statues. You can get ice cream and other types of food at reasonable cost. The one event I like the best here is the Irish Festival, it is a blast!! Irish groups, live music and on and on. Look up events on line to find out the dates of something you would like to attend!

I'm not into writing reviews, but I noticed a gross error in Teahan's review. There are literally miles of walking routes along the rivers out of Riverscapes. You could literally walk for days with mostly beautiful scenery - not sure what was stopping you. That being said, I would not consider this a tourist destination, but a place for locals to go to spend the better part of the day (given that you get on a trail and go).

This downtown gathering area features many activities all year long. In the warm months, there is a wide range of festivals and live entertainment. In the colder months, there is ice skating and hot chocolate. Always something going on for the entire family.

The Metroparks did a fabulous job on thier flagship entertainment and winter gives a perfect background for days to ice skate or bike the bikeway to or from the downtown riverscape and downtown activities. Some food there and each year it gets some better but I would rate the food a 4 out of 10 and the wait for food really sucks if it is busy. apck a backpack lunch. The mark district has one flaw There are Rangers EVERYWHERE and pretty stoic. You know the thumbs on you there and god help you if you have a beer on thier property and its not a sanctioned event. but enjoy as it is alot of money spent on a grand location on the river. and, they have really cool gardens and pools to watch the street irchens watch you.

Weather permitting they have a couple restaurants that you can grab a lunch at and enjoy the views and sometimes entertainers. The fountains shoot water up out of the river occasionally and it is quite a site. On weekends you can rent bikes, and they also have entertainment. But the bike trails are the best ever.

I have to admit, I was first looking for a bit of a "river walk" atmosphere like in San Antonio but then found that this was more of a park. It was pretty picturesque, there were swinging chairs to sit and just chat. There were also fountains for kids to walk through. The view was very pretty and then we discovered the bike rental location!! We rented bikes and rode around and that made the experience fun and relaxing as well.... Definite recommendation on a nice day...

Being a native, this downtown oasis is a popular place to either go and get wet with the kiddies or to have some relaxing time to think. There are all sorts of little attractions to do such a bike ride, row boats etc.
