I was here a couple of weeks ago. Small casino. Probably the oldest ones on tge area. Needs a major renovation to keep up with the newer casinos. But had a ok time.

First thing was the easy open lay out of this casino and the good payouts of the slots there. We could find no negitives there at all D.J.Julian

My husband and I visit here often. We sometimes visit to eat lunch when we have been at the lake, sometimes we visit in the evening to have a drink and listen to some live music. And sometimes we visit to gamble. Anytime we go we always have a good time and everyone is always nice.

I play a lot of blackjack which is the reason i play at thunderbird and blackhawk in shawnee. I was out there a couple on nights ago and played for 45 minutes or so. I know the one pit boss Steve and asked if i could get a comp although i had not played an hour i was out a couple of weeks ago and played 30 minutes or so. The new rule there is you have to play 60 minutes solid to get a 7 dollar food comp! He said yes but the oriental gal who was running the pit said flat NO! Then they have hired these young kids doing security which i noticed were giving patrons a hard time for no reason, i guess they were bored. I think the variety of machines is okay but the management atmosphere and the atmosphere of the whole casino has changed for the worse. I suggest going out to blackhawk as they will comp you a meal readily and actually do direct mail offers that are as good as any i've seen so far in oklahoma

My wife and I visited this casino during our recent trip to Norman, and having a terrible experience at the Thunderbird Casino at Lake Thunderbird. The casino was pretty busy and is fairly large. It is operated by the Shawnee tribe. Although this casino is about 30 miles east of OKC, the lousy machine maintenance seems to be copied from the metro casinos. It is hard to get the buttons to press to play many of the games. If you like to press buttons to stop the reels, this isn’t your place. For being such a nice facility, I was surprised at the amount of older games. As an example, there wasn’t a single Great Eagle, Gorilla Chief, Dragon’s Realm, etc. at this casino. I was reminded of casinos in KC where they have an abundance on Sun and Moon games. We visited all of the casinos in the OKC metro area, as well as this one, and I recommend that you drive to Tulsa to visit River Spirit or the Hard Rock. Those places maintain their machines and you have a better chance of winning.

My wife and I visited this casino around noon on a Saturday. There were very few cars, prompting my wife to ask me if the casino was open. This casino is operated by the Absentee Shawnee tribe. Absentee is right as the customer service is absent. My wife attempted to cash out of a machine, but the ticket didn’t print. She pressed the service light and I waited by the machine since I was playing a couple of machines down. After 5 minutes, nobody showed, so I pressed the service lights on all machines in the row. No response. I then see two casino employees come by and I start talking to them – they keep walking and do not acknowledge my existence. I needed Whoopi Goldberg’s character from “Ghost” to communicate with the employees, I guess. Since it was a $3 ticket, we finally abandoned the ticket and left. Aside from the poor customer service, most of these are older machines and it is hard to even get the buttons to press to play the games. Additionally, when there was a payout, it was very low compared to the amount wagered. I threw the players club card in the trash on the way out – I will never return here.We visited all of the casinos in the OKC metro area and I recommend that you drive to Tulsa to visit River Spirit or the Hard Rock. Those places maintain their machines and you have a better chance of winning.

This used to be one of my favorites as it is close to norman. They changed up the blackjack comps though recently. Shaun who is over the tables changed it to having to play for one hour solid to get a 7 dollar deli comp. That makes it a game changer so i am saving my money for tunica to go to a real class 3 casino, not bingo like here in oklahoma on the slots as i like to play video poker, none here, still better than riverwind but as i was in tulsa and played at the riverspirit central oklahoma has a LONG way to go to get close to a REAL casino

This casino is the worst one I've ever been to. Not only are the machines tight as can be because of the stingy Indians, the employees are all disgusting, rude & have the worst customer service. I decided to get a drink (with hopes of making my losing straka a little better) couldn't find a cocktail server for the hour I sit there. Went in the bar, the fat dyke bartender was only waiting on the guys then was very rude when she demanded me tell me what I want. I ordered a draft beer, with salt on the rim. After she stuck her disgusting finger all around my cup, the beer was very hot & sour. I heard they never clean out the lines & I seen a rat run across the floor. The bartender Nekkia, then demanded $2 & turned around and did NOT ring up my drink. She put the $2 in her tip box! She has such bad customer service that she doesn't get tips, so she has to steal from her work. Worst experience ever

This is casino is hidden on highway 9. The slots are loose and have some new fun machines. I enjoyed the people watching that occurs here. Very Smokey.

I realize this casino like most can be smokey, it is comical to see the chain smokers that live in the casinos. other than the smoke they are giving the casino a facelift and have added some new 25 cent machines which are fun to play. i was there recently and had one go into spin mode and paid the top amount. also the fact they do not charge you to play blackjack give comps to the deli for playing tables, and give one percent cashback makes it worth the drive instead of the closer casino to me which is riverwind

Like most smaller casinos, this place is great for people watching. Although it can be smoky at times, not a terrible way to get rid of a paycheck.

I visited Thunderbird Casino after i tried my luck at RiverWind, and let me say Thunderbird is awesome! I went with my grand parents my girlfriend and my cousin we had a blast it a small Indian casino but the offer so much quality its one of the only places you can play blackjack ante free! My girlfriend and i loved the slots! not to mention the slot club rewards are the fastest point system I've ever had the pleasure of using i got to play 10$ free on the casino. For a good time i definitely recommend Thunderbird Casino. also ask for the free playing cards up front!

I live 8 minutes away from riverwind (never-win) and 30 minutes from thunderbird. To me it is worth my gas money to drive to thunderbird. i take a set amount to play on and on average i get more play at thunderbird hands down compared to riverwind on the slots. i frequently have hits of 100 dollars at thunderbird versus, 20-30 dollar hits at riverwind which keeps me playing much longer. Normally i can walk out ahead at thunderbird if i choose versus riverwind rarely. Also here they do not charge to play blackjack and are talking about going to a real rating system for table play as in vegas maybe 30 percent return on investment? Now if you sit down and play they will give you a comp easily to the deli every time you sit down! And the one percent slot return is about 100 percent better than riverwind, i know i play both places, also there are not as many employees as players so who pays for all of the staff at riverwind , oh yeah anybody who donates there money there. This casino honestly gives me more for my buck so i play here often, good luck! mark

I loved the fact that I rarely lose big money here and I like their cash-back rewards. Pretty standard as an Oklahoma Indian Casino goes but the smoke is horrible. Every time I go, I have to wash everything I have worn as soon as I get home. It is the smokiest place I have ever been in besides a bar or a bingo hall! The employee's are nice. No fancy here, just slots and gaming tables and basic grill.

As i live in norman and the closest gaming is riverwind, or goldsby gaming it is good that the shawnee tribe has a casino within a 30 minute drive. As goldsby gaming is close i normally donate my casino budget there. As the casinos are not regulated by any state or national gaming authority and the tribes can turn on or off the servers at will with no oversight legalities i decided to try thunderbird. They have closed off some of the area, put in some new machines and it is roomy. They also have a small table gaming section and unlike the riverwind bunch they do not charge the crazy 50 cent a hand "ante" as they call it here to play so you are not renting the chair like you do at riverwind. I don't play cards at riverwind due to this add on charge which in essence you are renting a chair for 30 dollars an hour with no comps so i don't bother. Anyways when i was out there this last friday they had the servers turned on and i walked out the door with twice the amount i walked in there with and got a lot of play for my money so it was a very enjoyable experience. And as a plus they do a one percent return which is really bad in comparison to the rest of the united states but better than nothing like you get a riverwind and goldsby gaming. Good Luck and remember that if they tribes decide to turn off the servers and not pay out any bingo cards while you are playing there is no sense in chasing your losses as oklahoma is all class 2 gaming and the payback percentage is NOT regulated by law.
