We attended Christmas open house at the Marland Mansion and also at this home--Marland's Grand House , his first house built on Grand Avenue in Ponca City. We were greeted by a lady dressed as Mary Virginia Marland, and others were on hand to answer questions. Unlike the Mansion, this house is associated with Marland's first wife. As someone else suggested, it might be briefly toured first. There are older-style museum exhibits in the basement (mostly 101 Ranch) and in two upstairs rooms (Native American artifacts).

Beautiful home interesting tour The guide did a great job and was dressed in period dress (I wish I could remember her name but I'm sorry I can't). She was informative and knowledgable and made the tour interesting. Well worth visiting.

Beautiful grounds and the mansion is amazing. The curators are very iinformative and enthusiastic. The grounds and the mansion itself are used for local events such as the high school promenade, weddings, the Ponca City Arts and many other functions. An excellent grand place to hold a special event.

We took the self-guided tour of E.W. Marland's Grand Home in Ponca City, and enjoyed both its beauty and history. This was E.W.'s first home, and I recommend seeing it before going to the Marland Estate. We spent half-an-hour there just taking in the many rooms of the "grand home." Highly recommended!

Enjoyed a one-hour group tour by David, the Marland Museums Director. Wish we would have had a little more time to spend in the 101 Ranch Museum in the basement level. The home includes the first indoor home pool built in Oklahoma. The home is impressive on it's own. I recommend you see it first before you tour the Marland Mansion.

We only visited the grounds and outside. There was a wedding taking place on the veranda. It is a grand home.

This is a house I could live in - Marland's first house in Ponca City. We walked through the home at our own pace after a very interesting introductory talk by the docent-on-duty. As well as the house and furnishings, there were several small mueseum exhibits by the D.A.R., Native American exhibits, and the story of the 101 Ranch and Wild West Show. Lots of history on exhibit!

Interesting first mansion for Marland as he built Marland Oil (later Conoco Oil). A real home for the rich that was lived in for the 1920's. A neat basement swimming pool, a basement bar, and a beautiful tile sunroom. Also a small museum has been put in the house that shows bits of history. Both this and his later Mansion (barely lived in before bankrupt) are woth visiting for the contrast.

Marland's Grand Home is an interesting blend of ostentatious taste and function. The individual rooms are quite an eye full. You will take a self-guided tour with a booklet in hand and plaques or fliers by displays , pictures, artifacts, etc, explaining what each item is and it's significance to the mansion. The mansion itself is divided into 3 levels, with each level having a different theme displayed. The second story is a museum dedicated to the local Native American tribes and nations with some of the Marland's belongings displayed as well.The basement is mostly about the 101 Ranch and what a part it played in the local history with a mixture of Native American artifacts mixed in as well. Only the main floor is mostly the furnishings, books, artworks, etc, most closely associated with the living style of the Marland's.You will have to walk up and down the stairs, there is no elevator in this home as there is in the Marland Mansion (another site apart from this one), so be prepared. It isn't difficult, but will require some legwork..

Mr. Marland was an oil baron who began Marland Oil, which became Conoco, and is now ConocoPhillips. He was a rather extravagant spender and Marland's Grand Home was the smaller of his two lavish homes in Ponca City. The home also houses many Indian and 101 Ranch artifacts and there is a flag plaza dedicated to the Oklahoma Flag to the east of the Grand Home.

Very historic and beautiful home. This is a must see. It only cost $7 and we were there three hours touring and looking around.

many interesting items, especially about the 101 ranch which was near marland okla. also Indian artifacts, including arrowheads. it can also be rented for programs, parties, weddings, ect.

The Marland Mansion is as historial and enlightening as E. W. Marland, the 10th governor of Oklahoma. Having visited the mansion and its grounds (secret corridors) many times, I am intrigued by the splendor of the mansion and the history of Marlan. After a quick review of the Marland Mansion online, you determine it is worth the trip. Governor Marland lost his oil company to what is now Conoco, annulled the adoption of his daughter Lydie after the death of his wife, married Lydie, was elected to Congress and served as Oklahoma's governor. The splendor of the mansion is worth the trip. But, the bonus is the history and drama of Marland's success, defeat, and a comeback worth noting. Read about it and you will want to take a day trip from Oklahoma City or Tulsa or take a detour to the drama of this mansion.

If you want to extend your experience of studying the Marland legacy, this is a nice museum - if you have to chose - go with the mansion
